Confused who we supposed to get in our current position, new owners or not. Seems like a decent appointment given where we are.

Attacking style, gets it down and plays, that's a big change.

“I have been tasked with delivering a best-in-class player development model from the academy through to the senior squad and given a realistic timeframe and budget with which to do so. It is an absolute honour to have been invited to do this at one of England’s biggest clubs.

“The blueprint for the future and the ambition to create a sustainable structure with a clear identity is one I will work diligently and passionately to bring to fruition for Sunderland fans. I’m grateful for the autonomy granted me by the ownership group to pursue this plan and create something we can all be proud of.

“We understand the frustration of the present circumstances and whilst we seek patience and continued support for the longer-term objectives, we are absolutely determined to fix key issues in the short term to establish a winning team. The task of appointing a Head Coach who is both aligned to the overall plan and capable of impacting the team’s performance and style in the immediate weeks and months is a priority above all else.

“I fully understand the potential of the football club and I’m looking forward to working collectively with staff, players and fans to restore the club to its rightful place in the Premier League. There’s no doubt about the size of the task ahead of us and the need to be pragmatic in our approach, but we all share the same dream and the work starts now to make this a reality.”

41 year old SpD, 39 year old manager and hopefully if Dodds signs, a 34 year old academy manager. The dinosaurs are extinct.

I don't buy into all this underwhelmed crack, you've more chance of finding rocking horse ****e than finding a football manager that's never been sacked. There's absolutely zero evidence to suggest he can't get us out of division three.

So many people now negative on this appointment - has our support base become this negative (I know we have been ****e for a few years). Just give it a go and see what happens. I think some were expecting us to appoint Sir Alex as manager and Arsene Wenger as Sporting Director

While was that? Appreciate the ITK trying to give us hope but they have been miles away in many aspects. But still closer than most.

Honestly some of our fans think we are ****ing Barcelona and have a pick of top quality premier league managers - they need to give their ****ing heads a shake.

I'm coming round to Johnson - just got to get behind him and I do think we will play better football than parkinson(its not that difficult i suppose)

Aye - Donald, Methven, Sartori and rich kid, who will all be silent (non)investors no doubt. Leaving that doyle Rodwell to annoy the supporters more and more.

If this doesn’t put to bed ‘fakeover’ conspiracy theories then I don’t know what will. No way would Donald make these sort of appointments.

Also Dave Jones just tweeted “start of a new era”. That to me as as good as the first official confirmation of the takeover being done as we have had. Lads, we are here.
