Remember when we appointed oneil, Moyes, advocate, all big names who had been brilliant elsewhere. We all thought gerrin we've finally got a great manager then they came here and were a disaster. Remember appointing Peter Reid and thinking Christ this isn't great and then look how he gave us our best 3 or 4 years in recent history. I know nowt about Johnson and tbh I'm not thrilled at the appointment but he could just as easily turn us around as anyone else could as there is zero Guaranties in football management By the sounds of it the new owners seem to be putting a structure in place which is the most important thing
I think he'll get us promoted, then lets see how far he can take us. Today has been a momentous day in the life of this club. Somebody has grabbed this club by the balls, and has the brains and foresight to put in a proper structure to give the non-playing staff the chance to succeed. I say good luck to them, be patient and see what unfolds. This is just the start of the announcements, and I look forward to hearing the rest, particularly the new owners vision for the future.
Aye, I remember one of the singers had a massive gap in her teeth, you could've driven a Sherman tank through it.
all i missed off was winning the championship, which i stated most football people put down to Steve Walsh. getting beat in the play offs isn't achieving anything.
Agree with all that except I really had a feeling deep down Reid would do a good job. I also said Quinn was an excellent signing and my best mate laughed his tits off. The odd occasions i was right but your right. Sometimes the unexpected just fit and click. Johnson could be the next Denis Smith, who knows. ? One things for sure, things are improving. That's a good sign.
I'm sure others have said it, but it's embarrassing how bad RTG is this evening. Grown men and women throwing their toys out of the pram. I'll paraphrase what I said there. If the new lads have a structure, and Johnson fits the mould for said structure, then f*** previous stats, let's see what he does here, THEN judge him. Speakman's interview says everything about the direction we'll be going in. I for one am excited. Especially as an exile!
reet...my take on it... not over happy that some lad has basically been 'hoyed' into a brand new position then been left to sort a manager, would rather he was given the chance to get straight into developing 'his side' of things, although i do realise choosing a manager may well be part of this job, would have preferred an easier transfer over to the new style. secondly, none of the mooted managers really strike me as 'yes, this is the one' type of appontment but i will, as ever, sit back and let them do their job and judge them well down the line...every manager had to start somewhere to build a reputation and hone their skills, we may end with the next big manager. also, can people just stop slagging every prospect off please, depresses the feck outta me thinking we are just getting parky #2.
I don't know you but I'm right behind you mate.. ..and surely the can put a wifi extender in there?! wtf.. treatment not punishment!
he got to the plays offs.... More than Johnson. Stokoe relegated us, down to him Or mcmenemy? Just playing devils advocate on that if so surely Leicester winning the title should be partially down to Pearson as many claim.
We can tell him that the new boss is Pochettino and not Johnson! And that the fans are a bit disgruntled because he too has "won nothing" . Mind he hasn't, as have hardly any other managers. But not to put pressure on Johnson or any other manager who has relatively modest experience, but, just of the top of my napper, a humble beginning did not stop Stein, Shankly, Ferguson, Revie, Clough, Graham, Wenger, Poch, and I'm sure many others from thriving, once in the right environment and at the right time for themselves. The next big name manager is not a big name now. Not likely to emulate any of those of course, but the lad deserves a proper chance. God only knows we have been a ridiculously ran club for long enough, so if we now start to behave like serous professional outfit, then that to me is music to the ears. For too long we have behaved like a drunken bloke, stumbling around in a dark room, pawing at the wall and occasionally reaching the light switch. Hopeless really, it was bound to end where it ended. If we do everything right now it will take a good bit of time to get back, but at least we will be heading in the right direction, not spinning around and lurching from one disaster to a worse one.
Owt happen between 1406 and here? I went away at 3:30 and there's 40 more pages man........... And Google luck @Guinness Guzzler
