I reckon with the new structure and the level of support from the new owners we are a little bit different to Barnsley and even Bristol City who are doing OK in the Championship , we have to give the lad a chance . Top Managers are not exactly flocking to us at this time , time alone will tell .
Club has been crying out for something like this year. Not since whenever can I remember us having an actual plan Gone from season to season reconstructing squad after squad and player in, player out.
Exactly, look at the way the FA cup team are received, and even the 7th placed teams. The 2-1 wins over the Mags, the 4-1 against Chelsea, the Ji goal vs Man City, just to name a few, I could go on all night. Just give us something to jump up and down and cheer
Sorry disagree this is a very very poor decision anyway you want to dress it up. We may have well kept Parkinson.
The structure etc looks modern & forward thinking - Time will tell fairly quickly if we’re heading in the right direction. Never heard of the manager, but very happy to give him 150%. (Didn’t want Poyet or Pearson). My only worry is, looking back at the SD takeover, a lot of folk on here we’re creaming there pants in the same way as folk are doing the same today. This does look different though so I too am feeling more positive this time around. They’ve got a BIG JOB on their hands, it’s time to let them have a go, with our total support. Bart
Just read the full transcript of the Speakman interview. Interesting how confident and explicit he was about the fact that he is essentially empowered to run the footballing side of the club. He explicitly says the head coach is his choice. Which makes the whole Poyet situation interesting seeing he’s also said it’s been a “crazy 48 hours”. Sounds to me like Speakman was only officially decided upon in last 48 hours. I guess all remaining candidates were asked if Poyet was suitable and they said yes? Who knows. It’s turned out well so I ain’t bothered. But the whole Poyet situation doesn’t add up.
Folk having a meltdown about a manager they know next to nothing about is embarrassing. Apart from Sir Alex, every manager gets sacked. Steve McLaren won a trophy and owen Coyle had a great season at Burnley but would make them a success at their next club? Prob not. It's about the parameters they are working under, expectations, budgets etc etc. The fact Johnson is only 39 and was the longest serving manager in the Championship before leaving Bristol suggests he has something. He wouldnt last that length of time otherwise. Good luck to him, it will be great to see something new.
The fans didnt want PArkinson but we gave him a chance. The fans were right. I really hope Im wrong but this is a very poor decision.
Here is a really novel idea. I have no idea if it might catch on or not but here goes How about we give the new manager 10-20 games and judge him then? Its a ****ing mental suggestion i know
The club is trying to do something different and to me feels like we’re trying to get in line with modern structures. IMO they want a head coach that plays a certain way and they went for an ambitious appointment (for league 1 level) in poyet, for whatever reason it didn’t work out and they’ve went to a manager who had his teams playing a similar way but was was more likely to join (not forgetting here’s a championship level manager). I’m not saying it’s going to work out, who knows, but at least it looks like we are going to stick to our principles.
Exactly. The club are getting a revamp, the City is getting a revamp, and if both come to fruition, the people of Sunderland and beyond will have a lot to smile about.
The thing is I don’t trust the current hierarchy at the club. Confirm the takeover and assure me SD & CM will be nowhere near ANY decision making, and Sartori isn’t just their little puppet - and I’ll maybe start to trust “the club” in calling the shots.
Not trying to cause bother surrounding this director of football but is it right that the guy from birmingham was their academy director or something. Everyone seems over the moon with him yet i bet majority had no idea who he was a few days ago. I understand they had a youngun whos now in germany, but we have had two players playing for england but i cant remember the clamour for our academy director being made a director of football. Like a said not on a wind up, just dont know about this bloke and what causes everyone to feel hes the right man for DOF.
