Cowley would have been my choice if we couldnt have tempted Poyet.

We have missed a big opportunity here.

I bet if Johnson goes to see the new dof about a player he doesn’t think is pulling his weight he doesn’t end up getting the sack

The people in charge went through a recruitment process and used specialist recruiters, they will know more than us J, lad. This is nowt like Charlie looking at his CV and binning others. The fact that specialist sports recruiters decided he was the best will do for me, we have no choice but there is certainly no reason to be knocking it just yet, as you quite rightly says, no one had any idea who he was, ergo that goes for those that are deciding he isn’t right

I suppose he’ll have known all about championship academy managers.

This is a Madrox decision, probably with the rich kids money.

Been catching up the last hour or so, annoyingly had to do some work at work today.

We’ve got to judge these new lads on results, not just results on the pitch either, let’s get the foundations right, we at least look to be addressing that, it’s going to take a while to repair the damage done at the academy alone (players, not the bastard lift).

I have to say, it hasn’t set the pulses racing at all, yes I’m still clamouring for a big name, and yes I’m well aware that hasn’t worked previously. It just hasn’t given everyone the lift we were expecting.

We are league one, but would have been nice to pull in a big name, to put us back on the map, Roy Keane announcement style, that got the place buzzing!!

I watched video of Johnson taking a pre season session abroad with Bristol City, came across one of those people that think they are hilarious. All just seemed a bit awkward, David Brent ish.

However, looks like we are going to have a good team around to support him.

Get the academy sorted and the recruitment, that’s critical as we’ve been really ****e in that department for a long while.

Lets get the new owners unveiled, I can’t wait to see their vision for the club.

I will give him a chance but you cant blame a lot of fans for being sceptical given recent appointments.

The way I look at it, we need someone who can get us promoted and stabilise us in the Championship. He took over Bristol City when they were in the lower reaches of the Championship, and stabilised them.

He may or may not be able to get us to the promised land of the Premier League, but if he can get us promoted and stable in the Championship, then he'll have done his job and we can then look for that 'next level' manager to continue the work the club has done.

I would have liked the Cowleys too but in terms of being real students of the game, I think Johnson is very similar to them. The benefit of Johnson is that he appears (based on rumour and previous comment tbf) to be more inclined to work within the new set up.

We are know what we are getting...a championship plodder. We should have take a calculated gamble on an up and coming manager who could grow with the club.

This is a good point. We don’t know if Johnson will prove to be good enough but all we can ask for is that he’s given the best support & foundations possible. It sounds like the club is trying to put those people in place who can provide that.

    Buzzing with today.

Think we've missed a bit of a trick not getting the boss in for tomorrow, would have been a great chance to get them off to a winning start!
