December RIP

He didn't join us until 1961. I remember as he came along to coach the older lads who played for our youth club. Good of him to give his time as it was a 30 mile journey for him. RIP.

Jock was definitely one of the oldest surviving ex-Tigers. Though I think Frank Varney, born in 1929, is still with us and living in Oxford.

Do you know if Brian Cripsey is still alive? He is four months younger than Jock.

 

Seemed like a genuinely nice person ...RIP.

 

Gerard Houllier achievements.

Gerard Houllier managed Liverpool from 1998-2004 and led them to five major trophies, including the FA Cup, League Cup and Uefa Cup treble in 2000-01.

Prior to Liverpool, Houllier managed Lens, Paris St-Germain and the French national team, and after leaving Liverpool won two Ligue 1 titles at Lyon.

His last managerial job was at Aston Villa until his retirement in 2011.

Yes, he is still alive. Remember seeing him play for Bridlington Town for a while around 1961/1962 time after he left City.

 

A real and genuine outpouring of warmth for Houllier today. As has been said, he just seems like a great bloke to work for... RIP

 

I remember the goal John McSeveney scored in the Everton replay, it was a cracker and City were unlucky to lose 2-1 to the league champions.
I also remember him spectacularly missing a sitter in front of Bunkers Hill when he managed to contact the ball on the line but still managed to get it over the bar.
An important player in City's history, much loved. RIP.

 

I went to the home game, I took my father for the first and last time. He was never a football fan but I persuaded him to go, we stood in the North stand and he lasted 20 minutes and left. He hated crowds and was a bit claustrophobic, so he went home.

 

A really sad few days, to lose John McSeveney and Gerard Houllier is very sad indeed. RIP Gentlemen.

I second that, a truly remarkable man, his dedication to amateur football was immense. RIP Wally.

 

Set up the hull Sunday league from a bransHolme council house, was it heartland or blisland?? Did it for nowt back then too. That phone musta been non stop on a Sunday and pretty much everyday. truly a great bloke RIP

 

Indeed, I ran and played for a Sunday league team and would call him with the results.

 

I was right behind the goal, up against the low fencing surrounding the pitch - down at Bunkers Hill end. It was the first time I saw City play a really big team - a really memorable day.

 

That’s sad to hear, what a wonderful man he was and his dedication to Hull Sunday League was incredible.
