This really doesn't make any sense. We had two players in Levitt and Oshilaja with Covid but we played.
Perhaps there is a serious concern among the Bristol Rovers squad that other players have probably been infected. Maybe in our case the circumstances were different, and it was judged much less likely that other players had picked up the infection from Oshilaja or Levitt. Only guessing.
All I can say is if Bristol Rovers cannot convince the EFL they were justified in pulling out of the game, I will expect Charlton Athletic to be awarded a 3-0 win (in the fullness of time). We'll have to wait and see if there is a case for Rovers to answer.
If they were worried about other players having the virus, but being asymptomatic, surely they could have been tested? I think it's £150 a test to get it done privately.
Rovers won't be alone in that I think. I hear Sunderland have unilaterally called off their next THREE fixtures. This could lead to fixture chaos and the integrity of the season being threatened if it escalates. And legal action between some Clubs and the EFL.
Is it too much to ask that EFL have clear and concise rules regarding postponement's of games due to Covid?
