Does anyone else recon Bentley to be the best goalkeeper in the Championship? If not then I'd be really interested to hear your alternative nominations. He's saved us time and time again - yesterday was yet another example. Our most valuable player IMHO.
Raya Martin at Brentford. The Brentford who sold Bentley. Martin is superb at shot stopping and his distribution could be better than Bentleys.
The way we are playing we will do well to hold on to him, probably the only player we signed in the past few years that we might make a profit on. He has been terrific no doubt, saved us yet again on Sunday.
Bentley is the best keeper we've had for a while. Imo his 'weakness' is crosses and distribution and probably why he's not kept in the Premiership.
On several occasions he has been the difference between winning and losing and our cup match was a good example of his prowess at pulling off great saves. Like most others he has some weaknesses but a definite keep in my books.
Bentley is a modern Keeper although Bristol City made it easy for Martin he displayed the superior modern football traits. Two thirds of goal keeping is played with the feet, the way Brentford play its far more, and Martins distribution both with feet and hands last night was exceptional.
I must admit that I wasn't impressed with some of Bentley's decision making or costly mistakes when he first came here but he's been a different keeper this season and fair play to him.
He's been really good for us this season, I personally couldn't fault him last night, not even with their first goal, initially was a great reaction save, just bad luck him palming directly to their player.. I believe we'd be bottom third if it wasn't for him.......Our player of the season by far!!
I must admit that I still haven't really seen him in much action - he was playing against US.....!!!!
He was let down by his defence for all 3 goals, Mawson should not have tried to intercept the pass in the build up and then we were slow to react to the 2nd ball (like we were all night) Kalas lost Toney for their 2nd goal (but hey what a finish from a quality striker) and again we were slow for the 2nd ball for the 3rd goal, too much ball watching.
