    Evening all,

Hope Big Sol fights through this. Played for us at a difficult time but always seemed like a likeable chap.

That pillock Monk was responsible for getting rid of Sol. It was made even worse by the fact he ended up at Baadiff:mad:

    Get well Sol.

Got to say Doc, I hope Cresswell is far better than Casey. He looked cumbersome and won’t make it at prem level for me. Not an out and out criticism by the way just, as with Tom Lees (who I always liked) he got done over five yards and you can’t at this level (same reason Coops will need replacing if we stay up) :emoticon-0148-yes:

Ah yes, anyone who wanted to kick the crap out of Bellusci is good by me. He was to defending what the clown is to goalkeeping, utter garbage

    Whoah there!

The young CB was paired with KP for the first time ever. KP didn't exactly set the heather alight, to put it mildly, but in mitigation, he is a DM after all.

So let's look behind him. Kiko the clown. Bound to give the lad a warm, fuzzy feeling - NOT!

Ok, let's look at who's in front. Jenkins, making his debut, and it most certainly wasn't one to remember.

So, finally, we look at the FBs. How much game time has Shacks had at RB? Not a lot, & not enough to be particularly reassuring for Casey. And finally, we have Alioski, known to the defence as the invisible man. Yes, lots of support & cover there, eh?

So it's no surprise that the lad might have been flustered at times, as he couldn't have been more exposed. And let's not lose sight of the fact that we were losing, & defence was clearly not our priority.

I was actually most impressed with him at one point. His actions prevented 4-0 by brilliant running, positioning, & covering. He saved a goal & I think you owe the lad an apology, Marcos.

Get where you’re coming from but as WJ says it cannot be down to him.

Casey and Cresswell are by far the best Cb pairing in the Premr League2, thats just a fact. Casey deserves his chance but would have been much better with Struijk as he has played in a CB pairing with the big lad for 2 seasons that lash up on Sunday was no marker for his ability at all. Cresswell has come through from the U18s and has made himself a starter in every 23 game this season and back end of last. He and Casey together are worth a fortune. Trust me.

if you watch a replay of the 23s game against Burnley on Monday, just sit back and watch Cresswell, how he dominates, reads the game, orders his troops and obliterates attacks. Awesome performance and he was playing with a kid from the U18s who was confident enough to have a great game himself. But Cresswell is going to be massive

Ah good a bit of controversial debate :emoticon-0128-hi:

Much as I would like to bow to your greater knowledge and issue the lad with a heartfelt apology, I think I will stick to my original thoughts if that is ok? Tell you what, if he plays 50 EPL games in the next two years (with us or someone else) I will buy you a pint or two. If you hasn't you owe me - deal?? Is he 22? Should be established enough by then for that to be realistic.

I think the thing lots of people forget is, one or two of these kids may make it with us or someone else so, logically, there will be plenty that end up in the lower leagues or have no real pro career at all, they ain't all going to make it. The biggest thing is, I don't think he has that yard of pace. Funnily enough people criticise Struijk for lack of pace but he is quite rapid, just doesn't turn like Kalvin can. You up for the bet??

Which, to a degree is what I was saying, I hope Cresswell is a gem because I just don't think Casey is going to be from what I saw. Even Tyler looks good for the Under 23's when he can be bothered (has he left yet by the way??)

We'll be moving Casey on soon enough as he finds his level lower down the Leagues....seen nothing to think otherwise <ok>

Might get half a million but, even if Crawley had the money, don’t think they’d be bidding.

More importantly, how are you buster?

Apologies and an update, I meant 20 games and will still take the bet on.

You might have bought Ben his first beer in a pub but I think you might be buying a few more:emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0167-beer:

Debate? How can it be a debate when we both know I'm right? <whistle>

We'll see how the lad does in the future. I'm optimistic (as ever). My post was simply offering HUGE mitigation for people's perceived assessment of his performance. An u23 player with very little 1st team game time is usually afforded experience around him. Casey effectively had ZERO experience around him, sadly - & very little assistance either as they were all upfield! I hope the lad isn't affected too badly.

You can buy me beer any time! :D <cheers>

I'm not sure what the bet was, but it involved C.WOOD. Fair play to Narcos he sent him the 20 in the post. <ok>

    Nearly.

Now a fully fledged Scottish/Yorkie hybrid - deeper pockets & shorter arms, plus impeccable pub manners - I'm always first there to hold the door open for everyone so they can get the first round in. :D

What actually happened was Shako Junior woke up and "remembered" a bet we apparently made after the event.
Obviously it was a ruse to con me out of cash but, knowing Shako would spread dirty rumours about me I paid up. I am a victim of crime I tell you.
