Could be, wouldn't like to guess. It's a wheeling and dealing window though, we could easily lose 4/5 this month and bring a similar number in.

Windows are more difficult with the salary cap, especially if we’re close to the ceiling (no idea if we are). Clubs have to juggle squads around to strengthen.

We are very close, us and Sunderland are pretty much at the limit, hence why it will be people out as well as in

That's no surprise, we've got a big squad and because they're many are on existing contracts and are only counted as the average wage, Batty takes up the same amount of cap space as Honeyman. I saw somebody post earlier today that they wanted us to bring in somebody like Pugh as we did a couple of years ago. I think they forgot that he was probably on around £20k pw, £1m a year, at Bournemouth and we have a £2.5m cap for the full squad. That's why it's unlikely any player we bring in will be from the champ, they're on too much. If we're bringing in somebody permanently, I'd expect them to be from our league, L2, Scotland or Ireland

I was going to reply to the Pugh post in the same vein but felt I was hijacking the thread in relation to realistic expectations so didn't.

Only way someone's coming in from a higher division is if they're a loan being heavily subsidised by a parent club (and no other takers at a higher level) or are very near the end of their contract and willing to take a massive drop in wages - again due to no other takers.

    Was thinking about this tonight.

I really feel for managers when they have to do their interviews, they've got to talk without really saying much but whilst making the fans think they're saying stuff. It can't be an easy balance and you can't single players out for criticism, as its very bad for morale. And then Grant has the KLP situation, we all want him to play, Grant does too and he has to come out and fully defend the owner who's blocking him from being selected. I can't imagine how frustrating that is and then when the teams announced he gets slaughtered for it all over social media.

Anyway, the point I was going to make was that the interviews, you can't really read too much into them. He said a few weeks ago that he didn't want to name positions we're targeting as he didn't want to upset the players (fair, no issues there). So it's weird that Eaves gets injured for 6 weeks and he's now saying we need a replacement. He watches the lads every day and sees the chances we miss each game, he knows what we need. I just find it interesting that how managers have to work the media to reassure the fans that we're trying to bring one in and use things like a relatively short term injury to get info out to us.

If Emmanuel was injured for 6 weeks, we wouldn't go and sign another RB, would we? There'd be no point and you wait until he's back. The likelihood is that we were always looking for another striker, but good ones aren't easy to come by.

Anyway, was just saying that we can't take everything we hear as gospel in the interviews, it's all very guarded. I didn't feel like Burnsy helped tonight with his questioning as it was a bit all over the place. It felt like there was so much he wanted to ask, but he knew he didn't have that much time.

    I suspect it's a League 2 striker.

I think the best striker signing that's even marginally realistic is Max Watters, best conversion rate in top 4 divisions and they want £1m. We know we create an abundance of chances and just need somebody to stick them away. It's a lot of money and I don't think Ehab would spend that, but it'd be a sensible gamble. Huge potential to sell on for a profit too as he's only 21

If it is, wouldn't be surprised if it's Adebayo at Walsall. Scored 8 so far, and has just turned 23. He's big and pacy by all accounts, he's the type of player I think we'd target and suspect you'd get him pretty cheap too

Nobody expects them to be playing, so there’s absolutely no reason to claim fake injuries.

I thought our game imploded once he went off. That’s no coincidence. The ball was staying up in the final third when Eaves was on the pitch.

Kyle Joseph is available for between £500k and £1m.

Already scored a hat-trick in this league and a goal against Sunderland in a hugely weakened Wigan side.

He's the immediate back up for Greaves and Burke.... Alfie Jones can play there but not his preferred I believe...

Shame we didn't go for Lawrence Shankland before he went to Dundee United because he looks like a goal poacher and also from outside the box too.

This would quite literally be football suicide, as a pair, one to back the other up, you would not get better in this league and dare I say not too shabby in the league above!!!!

Play Coyle at right back and Emmanuel in front of him.
Push Wilkes in the centre in place of Josh
