So has there been a continual stream of L1 sides going on to establish themselves in the Championship with minimal player investment? Nope.

Do we talk about players being only L1 standard? Being Championship standard? Yep.

Ergo there is a big difference between the two.

 

Well I was talking about the difference in refereeing standards and so were you so I'm not sure what you're on about here.

 

We're gonna be in a bad place in the summer if we don't go up, due to this salary cap. It might force us to start being a smarter club with the way we promote our academy players.

I’ve often wondered if certain players were happy to be here in league 1 knowing that if we go up there history,now with this cap and those senior players out of contract the incentive is there to push on and drive the others around then for promotion and that bigger contract rather than fester in league 1

 

Sounds great but I think it's simply the players, Maguire the king, are just not consistently good enough

Agree but not consistent enough to be picked up by any teams in a higher league, Donald has cost cut and used the parachute payments to purchase the club rather than invest in the team for an immediate return to the premiership. Hence we've gone down the cheap route and overstocked with average division 3 players who aren't good enough to get us promoted and probably in their best interests not to as they'll struggle elsewhere... Their contracts are up in the summer and if they don't perform now and achieve promotion this could be their last chance as they will not be picked up by any upward moving teams

 

The hope now is that Duncan can get his career back on track, and go on to be the player he promised to be, pull an England shirt on, maybe who knows, not out of the question in my opinion, no one deserves it more imo. We ( ie Ross and Parky ) failed him not the other way round.

 

Bit harsh under Ross mind as he was injured. I was at Wycombe when he got took out, absolutely disgraceful that. Still say Ainsworth sent his players out to take him out of the game by any means necessary.

 

He is capable of that sort of magic, but its in many ways an illusion, the reality is he does as little as he can, he is indeed the King of buck passing.
