    I think BOS has demonstrated pretty much 100% commitment so far this season. He may not have destroyed every opposition defender every game, partly because sides are now aware of his ability and have tended to double up against him. Nevertheless, he's had some outstanding games and BOS on a bad day is still better than our average player. If he couldn't be bothered, Warburton - no fool - wouldn't have been picking him. Clive, on Loft For Words, has rated him an average 6.01 for the season to date, which places him third in the rankings of those who've played at least 6 games.

    Of course, I am disappointed that such a talented and exciting player is leaving QPR and part of me is a little angry about the perceived lack of loyalty. I am also disappointed at the clumsy way he and Fenerbahce have handled this pre-contract situation, with QPR apparently the last to know that he has signed up to go elsewhere.

    It's fun to speculate but whether he should play for us again this season is a moot point: we don't know
    1. What has been going on behind the scenes and how he has been behaving himself;
    2. How his attitude compares with that of Manning;
    3. Whether Fenerbahce broke the news earlier than they had promised BOS;
    4. What he is saying about his commitment to QPR for the rest of the season; and
    5. Whether what he is saying is likely to actually translate into action.
    A clean break now MIGHT be better for all parties, allowing us to replace him in this window with a prospect whose commitment can be guaranteed, but I'm happy to entrust this decision to Warburton who does (largely) know what has been going on behind the scenes.

    That would make sense given where he was when he signed his last deal. I'd presume the deal we offered him would have made him one of the best paid at the club, but it just wasn't good enough to meet his expectations. Oh well, time to move on.

    From EFL HUB Mmm they don’t get much right & mostly made up rumours, but we’ll see, don’t know much about him but is a midfielder who can’t get in side!
    Ex Man Utd youngster, scored 13 goals since 2009 & going by that it seems he is a defensive midfielder, been loaned out a few times

    And manages to do so week in week out. H's not the same player he was last year.and now it's easy to see why. The cap fits. Exactly. He will do well financially out of it whether he plays in their reserves or not and the F team has done brilliantly out of it. Only the club that employs him and is strapped for cash loses out. He can be hung out to dry but am prepared to give him one chance to redeem himself. A match winning performance in which he actually lays on a couple of goals because his pride is stung. If he sulks or can't be bothered then. It's the same ****e league so shouldn't be too difficult.

    We will miss BOS, he is often double marked, taking defenders away from other players. Chair, for example will be under more pressure.

    Having said that Warbs and the club, have a big problem with the situation. He was strict with Manning.

    The best scenario is that Ferenbache take him now, and we get a small fee ( get some one in ) and lose his salary, rather than wait until June, paying his wages and then await the result of an arbitration review.

    Have to say I've never understood this doubling up mullarkey. If a team puts 2 players onto one simple. You play the ball to one of the other 9 or so outfield players available to you and you use your marked man as decoy Let him roam in the corners of the pitch and clear the way for the offensive movement down the other flank or through the centre. But then we employ tactical geniuses to do the coaching

    The difference is between tight marking and general positioning and light marking.

    Players will not be right on top of BOS all the time. Only when the ball is passed to him or if there is an imminent chance the ball will be passed to him. You are less likely to pass to him if you see a player or two near him. And you also have to factor in that QPR aren't very good at making key passes.

    So, doubling up doesn't mean 1 of your players is always totally unmarked. It just means another player in the area comes along to mark your key player when either in possession or in a good bit of space to receive an imminent pass. While that is happening, the other players will try and mark the other zones. 1 player may be marking a zone with 2 players in it, but those two players at that time are not likely to receive a pass, because of where the ball is on the field.

    So, you're right in saying you can use that to your advantage. But your other player who has more space also has to be a good player :grin:

    If you've got a team full of players who are deserving of double marking, the other team are ****ed.

    Unfortunately, not many players in our squad are that good. And a few of them are so bad they probably don't need any marking! :cheesy:

    It reminds me of other times when footballers seemed to be unable to use their intelligence. Lumping the ball up when your tallest forward is less than 6 foot and is playing against giants. All standing within inches of each other at a corner and all going in at the same time for the same ball. Although that particular bit of idiotic behaviour is usually rewarded by a corner taker who either balloons it over the penalty area or doesn't even beat the first man at all

    Cardiff City and QPR are interested in signing Motherwell defender Declan Gallagher, according to the Glasgow Times.

    The 29-year-old has been a key player for Motherwell this season, making 26 appearances across all competitions.

    22 of those games have come in the Scottish Premiership, with the Well enduring a tough start to the season, sitting 11th in the league table.

    Gallagher has been one of their more impressive performers, though, and despite being out of contract at the end of the season, he is close to triggering an extension.

    Dundee United are keen to lure Gallagher across Scotland, and are reportedly keen to make the defender of their highest-earners. There is said to be “serious interest” from Cardiff and QPR, too.

    Celtic have recently been linked with a move for Gallagher, as they look to provide cover in defence.

    Both Championship sides will be looking to strengthen this month, having endured tough first halves of the season.

    Cardiff currently sit 15th in the table, whilst QPR have dropped to 20th, only five points clear of the relegation zone.

    The Verdict

    This seems like a much-needed signing for QPR in particular.

    The R’s have conceded 30 goals this season which is very poor, so they do need to shore up their defence this month if they wish to improve and steer away from the relegation zone.

    Gallagher is 29 and is an experienced player who has made seven appearances for Scotland, so it would be an interesting and exciting move for him.

    Cardiff will also be looking to add to their defensive ranks, so he would be a good signing.

    Well ... that’s answers that question doesn’t it.

    Nobody can complain after challenging MW and the club to be consistent. Everyone knows where they stand now and in the future. time to move on ... and to be honest, it’s the best way. Give someone a chance to step up and get into the role. Get after any identified replacement or future replacement.

    Totally agree, poor behaviour, and who knows if it was BOS or his agent who engineered this bollox. Such a shame he couldn’t leave with some dignity and remain a fan favourite. Eze showed how it can be done.
    I could be totally wrong, but it is how I feel right now...

    It's been managed poorly, either by Fernerbache, the agent or BOS himself. Sooner he goes the better - I'd like to wish him luck, but after this I hope he ends up sitting on the bench and has a torrid time over there.
