Definitely not crowing about it as it’s in ALL our interests for the vaccine to be rolled out globally.....but good to see we are doing something right. I know it’s a long way off but would be nice to think that once we were ‘done’ vaccinating, we would be looking at assisting less well off countries with their vaccination programmes.
I'm more confused than ever. I just heard an expert on the radio talking about how many people had been 'immunised' so far. Are people who've had the vaccine immune from the virus? I thought we were being told they might just get a milder dose. He also said that we don't know yet if the vaccine prevents transmission. A pretty crucial question.
There really needs to be a huge wave of communication along the lines of “you aren’t immune so don’t think you can waltz round Waitrose breathing on people five minutes after getting a jab, especially if it’s one of the less effective jabs”. I’ve even saved them the expense of a marketing agency coming up with something catchy right there.
They have made it clear. The vaccine doesn't stop you getting it. It helps prevents and should give you a milder disease if you contract. Besides people shouldn't be waltz around anywhere as they haven't had their second jabs yet. It's common sense but some are just acting stupid... probably 'mixed messages' If in doubt don't go out. or if you do wear a mask, social distance and and avoid indoors. It's not rocket science.
Well the expert I heard today talking about how many 'immunisations' had been done was absolutely giving the wrong message then.
Okay sorry misunderstood. For me, the concern are these stupid government targets. They should have learnt a lesson? In the last 3 days the vaccination output has fallen and to reach that Feb target they need to move.
Agree we are not out of the woods yet by a long way...however I do feel its a case, as we’ve discussed before, of being either ‘glass half full’ or ‘glass half empty’. Rolling 7 day total of Corona positives are down 21.5%. Deaths are up 14.8 %....Of course every single death is a tragedy, however It’s been mentioned many times before these are deaths WITH a COVID diagnosis, not necessarily OF COVID. Not knocking you Beth, honest I’m not.....but with the vaccinations seemingly being ‘ramped’ up, I’m honestl6 more hopeful today than I have ever been Only time will tell if my positivity is misplaced.
They are trailing a lot about supply shortages for both the Pfizer and AZ vaccines over the next 6 weeks. Still a long way to go. Good grief.
Absolutely mate.......as I said in my above post to Beth. Maybe I’m being misguided but I’m feeling better about it all and find myself waiting everyday for the vaccinations figures....that’s what being stuck in a bedroom without Netflix does for you...I’ve never argued with this many people on Twitter in my life
I think they recognised that they way they are manufacturing now - and it’s a bastard to make apparently - was a real brake on production capacity, and they simply decided to bite the bullet now in order to make much more in a few weeks. I think they are doing something similar in the US. Might have something to do with meeting the massive global commitments they have. It is immensely frustrating though, even more so in the EU where the Pfizer jab is the main one at the moment. And it’s risky, they have to ensure that quality, which has been a challenge for them, is maintained through and after changes. They have also reported a shortage of raw materials, might be taking the opportunity to let the stock build up for more production. Whatever, as long as my mum gets her second jab at the beginning of March, delayed from the beginning of January, that’s all I’m worried about. Apparently AZ are well short of delivering the 2 million a week they promised by the end of the month. Still time to turn it round. We won’t get any of the Moderna jabs for a bit, April I think, but reports of about 10 people with bad reactions in one place in the US. Probably linked to a dodgy batch or poor administration.

If neither immunity (because you have had it) nor a vaccine, can protect people from catching COVID then there is no end game. It's simply game over.
