I enjoyed that show. Though I thought it didn't need to be so many episodes and they could've got through the story more concisely. Eight hours of exposition was just stretching it out and it felt like they'd made it so long because they had been given that much time to fill in the BBC's schedule. It probably would've made a great film at around the couple of hours mark. But I did find it compelling all the way through, mostly because of good performances and script, the styling and location, and the nature of the people as you say.
It bounced around to much for me, I lost interest. Mrs enjoyed it, but then she likes Homes Under the Hammer!
Anyone seen The Dig on Netflix, it is about the Sutton Hoo discovery. It has been recommended to me by a couple of people.
Thought The Dig was excellent, a good gentle English film that developed the characters well. Typical of the class structure of the time that the man who found the ship was given no credit.
It seems we're agreed. Also watched The Small Things. New Denzel Washington film. Looking a bit older now. Always outstanding. Tried to watch the first episode of ZeroZeroZero on my firestick. Italian and Spanish dialogue with no subtitles My youngest daughter recommends :Lucky to me. Harry Dean Stanton's last film before he died I couldn't find it, but she says it's superb
Rewatching The Wire. Warriors seems like it could be good so I'll give that a look. Anyone seen any of The Great? That's one I'm thinking about starting. Thought The Dig was ok, there's another film called The Dig, totally different story but still lots of digging, which is worth a look
Finished season 1 of Warrior better than I thought it would be.Thought it might have Chinese fighters flying through the air nonsense but didn't.7/10
Its a Bruce Lee concept that he never got to make. Lee prefered more of a real approach to martial arts (mainly cause he was good at it), s2 has alot more violence in it, but still keeps it more real and grounded.
