It's true. I haven't burned anyone at the stake as a heretic for at least a few hundred years.

    Hmm,

Since when has the church instilled morals in people that hasn't benefitted the church?

Depends on the church and the religion I suppose.

There's a lot of sound morals in the bible but a lot of confusing stuff about shunning your neighbour's oxen and other shyte ...

... most of the church people I've know are good who do their best for others.

Religion is what you make of it.

That goes for Christianity the same was it goes for Islam the same way it goes for Norse ****ing paganism.

You can use it as a means of understanding life and the world. For telling stories and for sharing wisdom.

You can use it to slaughter people mercilessly.

There's no bad religion and no good religion really. Satanism and Scientology aside.

Just bad people and good people corrupting and perverting those religions.

How on earth did society ever survive before god came along and gave us morals?

People are more selfish now, definitely, but that's a misquote. If you consider what she said afterwards it was actually to encourage people to all work hard so that they were in a position to help each other.
And before I'm accused of being a 'Tory', I'm not, there's plenty to dislike about Maggie, I just can't stand inaccuracies.

The trees, and the earth, and flight of the birds told us what to do. And lobbing swords into ponds helped too.

When I was an apprentice fitter, every time I hit my thumb with a 3lb hammer I vowed I would never do that again. It must have taken me dozens of times, and a few crushed thumbs, to develop a strategy to avoid doing it again.

I bet a few thumbs have been hit over the last 3.5 billion years. :emoticon-0105-wink:

You'd think they'd stop making promises about it 'all going back to normal by Christmas' or whatever ...

... it's totally unpredictable so stop making predictions.

Did you read the link that Blondie put up?

The government are refusing to put a timeframe on it regardless of the pressure being put on them to do so. They aren't making any predictions.

Dickheads. What chance do we have of containing this virus when people just won't do as they're told.

A student party that attracted people from up to 200 miles away has been broken up by police.

Party-goers had travelled to the event from places such as Newcastle, Nottingham and London.

Officers were also called to a party on Soho Road where shop owners had set up a sound system, and a 30th birthday party attended by about 20 people in Kingstanding.

Across 32 breaches of Covid-19 lockdown rules on Friday night, the force issued 58 fines of £200 and five of £1,000.

Covid-19: Top adviser warns France at 'emergency' virus moment

Under new rules anyone entering from inside the EU by air or ferry must now present a negative Covid-19 test result within 72 hours of travel. Those entering France from the EU by road, including cross-border workers, will not be required to take a test.

President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said last week that all non-essential travel "must be strongly advised against" but EU nations have so far agreed to keep borders open.
