I got into a major set to with a chav for daring to suggest they should be winning the title with that side and he was hammering on about giving time and that to lampard. Anyone with half a wit looking at cheslea's record with managers would see he had to be top of the table not miles off. he has utterly failed to get anything out of havertz and werner and so with them earning 300k per week and totally useless he had to go.
guess what though. rangers couldn't get anyone else and they backed him for enough time to deliver. lampard is gone at 1.5 seasons.
Gerrard has done a lot better than I expected him to, tbh. It's a **** league, but even so, a solid start to his managerial career.
Think true test for them is Europe. For all celtics dominance they always did **** in Europe over last 10 years and failing to even get into the CL. Rangers actually did half decent in the EL which is a decent achievement against some good teams
Absolutely no surprises seeing Lampard sacked. Nowhere near ready for a job like Chelsea. Did well last year with zero pressure and playing hungry and talented kids but throw shiny expensive egos into the team and an expectation to perform and he crumbled.
Sorry mate, went off for a bit I'd like someone up and coming like hassenhutl or nagelsmaan even though both havent won anything but have shown really good improvements at their clubs. If it had to be a name though, maybe allegri. I think Tuchel hasn't been that great. The footballs okayish but not the most attractive compared to the managers that have been managing PSG and Dortmund and i also don't think his record has been good at either (average/par for the course).
pulisic was decent last year. He's been poor this year but i think half of it is lampards possession based tactics. We just don't seem to want to counter anymore, instead preferring to pass it around at the back. I'd hope any manager coming in would be able to get a tune. Why that has to be Tuchel though is beyond me
mind you, even though it might have been wasted time, i'd have given him to the end of the season to see if he could turn it around.
you would have been better off without , at least , a couple of your attacking signings . I still have no idea of why you ended up with CHO , Pulisic , Werner , Ziyech , Abraham , , Giroud plus Havertz and Mount as attacking midfielders as it is far too many "first" choice players to keep happy particularly as it seems clear he wasn't particularly involved in the some of those choices .
It’s not just keeping them happy either. In training you can’t work up any kind of rhythm as having to play then with diff people. Then keep chopping and changing every other game and you never let those relationships build. Too much choice can be a bad thing.
absolutely. I can understand werner and ziyech but also bringing in havertz was stupid and at a ridiculous price too
signings seems set up for a 4231 formation but just not sure every really settled on that formation and style that suited. pulisic on the left. Ziyech on the right. Havertz behind werner up top. But werner needs quick balls in behind. Space to run into and quick counter. Not intrinsic slow build up play as it’s not his game.
imo Chelsea's best potential team ............................Mendy Azpilicueta Rudiger Silva Chilwell .................Kante........Kovacic Ziyech...............Mount............Pulisic ........................Werner toss up between Mount and Havertz, but Mount has proved himself more atm
BREAKING: Guidance has been added to the offside rule after the 'controversial' Bernardo Silva goal in what has been described as 'a face-saving exercise' by PGMOL. The goal, set up by an offside Rodri, would NOT stand from now on. You couldn't make it up
Ironically I do think it needed clearing up. But yet again it’s another change to an already complicated rule. Offside and handball have got to the point where by trying to make it fair and perfect for players and officials they’ve made it complicated and an even more grey area for the fans who now no longer understand it. When are those in charge of football going to apply common sense to law making. I don’t wanna sound like @saintKlopp but surely back in old days deliberate handball was handball and being offside was offside. None of this ‘in the silhouette’ or phase 3 of play nonsense. Get back to to a situation where fans and players know exactly what handball is and what offside is and leave it alone.
