As I approach 30 I'm starting to think about where I'd like to settle in my senior years and think I've just seen the perfect place:
    https://www.green-acres.fr/en/prope... Int RT&utm_source=criteort&utm_medium=banner

    Pros:
    Nice house
17 acres to detect metal in
1700 year-old church in the grounds - Roman coins everywhere plus I could use it as a studio
South of France, no snow or miserable cold days

    Cons:
    No pubs
    Can't get a curry
    Too hot in summer

What would be your perfect home if you could live anywhere you fancied?*

    *Within a realistic budget

Think we'd have to start a colony so we can have pubs and curry houses.

It is in the region Midi-Pyrenees, so I doubt it would be too hot in the summer and I also doubt it wouldn't be cold in the winter. Have you thought this through?
