I think this will be very tough, they have had a full week off whilst we have had a long journey with a great win and it's back on the road again. There isn't a great deal in quality between many teams in this league and if we are not fully on our game we can be beat has we know. However play to the standard we have set ourselves in the last two games and we beat most. I would be happy if we keep a clean sheet tomorrow night.
Suspect this is going to be tougher then the home leg. Sure they will have disected that game and taken stock. Reckon we will make a change or 2 maybe Emnanuel and Burke back but would be a real shame on coyle and jones. At least we can now rely on rotation and a decent bench. UTT
Off topic, but thanks for your post about setting up for ifollow on tv and making sure you were logged out on mobile. Pointed to where I was going wrong.
Completely agree, so important we make a few changes to keep it fresh. I'd have given Flores a start but he wasn't on the bench at the weekend so he maybe he picked up an injury for the 23s. I'd still be tempted to go Slater for Doc though. Think Coyle for Emmanuel is the obvious one too and I'd bring Crowley in for Whyte. Gavin's done nothing wrong but 3 games in a week after not playing all year and with a hectic schedule just makes sense
Stick with the same team! No reason to change it unless anyone's carrying a knock. Get out the blocks fast, get our noses in front, and if needs be, make changes from the bench.
I’ve (obviously) stuck us down for a win but I’m also obviously concerned after 7 - 0 aggregate wins over the last two games. My real concern is that he decides to rotate. Even with Crowley in the side I still see the energy of Honeyman as being totally irreplaceable. Losing Alfie too to bring Burke back in would be a mistake for me, the defence has been unbelievably good over the last two games, and they’ve also clearly ensured we’ve lost nothing in attack. Up top is also a concern, with the fluidity that the front three have given us over the last couple of games being potentially lost with the re-introduction of Magennis.
There's clearly a job off in quality but Slater has done okay. It's more due to the stupid schedule coming up, everybody is going to have to grab a rest at some point. It's easy to say stick with the same team and if we were only playing on a Saturday, it would be fine. But we aren't, we've also got the cup next midweek and if we seriously want to win that, we can't be playing a complete 2nd string. The squad has to be managed, and we've already seen what happens when we burn out our midfield.
McCann seems to consider Crowley as part of the front 3 primarily, he's said it quite a few times and brought him on to replace Whyte on both occasions.
With more sub options, there's no reason why starting with the same side but being prepared to change it earlier than the hour mark.....
This. My concern too. Although I do think Emmanuel can feel hard done to, but maybe he needed a rest or had a slight knock. Rotating Coyle for Emmanuel is unlikely to weaken / unsettle us. Great strike from Magennis on Saturday, but we would lose so much if he changes things back up top. Hopefully McCann now finally realises & accepts it.
I wouldn’t change a winning team unless injury or suspension forced a change. They are in good form and they all know their jobs. As some one else posted - make subs earlier if a rest is needed.
That only works if we're winning the game comfortably. We may have beaten them well last week, but they're still a very good side who haven't played for a week.
