The CPS must have thought the evidence the police had would stand up in court or they wouldn't have allowed it to go to trial. But as others have said, what we have seen so far doesn't appear to prove he killed her to be beyond a reasonable doubt. I'm sure he has done it, I just hope it can be proved for the families sake.
I'm not convinced it's quite as easy as that..I'm not sure how the new laws on U.K citizenship or residency work post Brexit but deporting people seems to be something of a difficult procedure? I agree he should be kicked out immediately on release but will it happen? Like I say, debatable.
Other countries, including EU ones, manage. It is axquestion of the will to do it and not be influenced by wets and shyster lawyers getting, rich on legal aid.
Sadly, and you know as well as I do,this Country seems to buck the trend when it comes to common sense in dealing with this type of thing....Substitute the word 'Shyster' for 'Human Rights' and you'll be nearer the reason why deportation is difficult?
Maybe the right people don't get legal aid? There are many others but this was just the first one when I googled.it. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8834299/Uber-driver-terrorist-300-000-legal-aid.html
Abu Qatada's was reported as being in excess of £500,000 and Anjum Choudary's legal aid bill for a 4 week old Bailey trial was just shy of £100k...
The article says £165k paid solicitor fees, £118k paid barrister fees. What it doesn't say is how many solicitor hours and how many barrister hours were consumed defending the case. https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/w...-50m-criminal-legal-aid-offer/5103273.article https://www.lawcareers.net/Explore/...a-career-as-a-legal-aid-lawyer-viable-in-2020 https://www.theguardian.com/comment...l-and-its-families-who-are-in-the-firing-line
He's already serving a long sentence for sex offences, so automatically qualifies for deportation once released, whatever happens in the current case.
I am sure the prosecution alluded to the lack of direct evidence in the opening statement. Along the lines of this not being necessary to find him guilty. This was reported verbatim in the Hull Mail, but I cannot find it. He may go back to this in his closing speech.
What about Libby's rights to a family life? That should have the most bearing but knowing how things have gotten this country they will be way down the priority list.
I think his wife and children went back to Poland as soon as he was arrested. Whatever he has or hasn’t done two young children and a wife are completely innocent and will have this in their lives as long as they live.
Not a lazy answer. Just working out what there hourly rate would equate to. And, yes, I know they have office and staffing costs. The examples given dispute any claims that a fair amount is being spent on legal aid. Whether it is benefitting the right people is another question and would support your statement it is not fit for purpose but for different reasons to what you think.
I am not defending his right to a family life just stating the line the human rights lot trot out to prevent the deportation of rapists, murderers and terrorists. As it turns out his wife and kids returned to Poland so they can't use that one. Though the residency one could stop it.
