I have no concrete evidence for it, but I suspect that the virus may have something to do with it.
I can attest first hand to the long-term effects of Covid, and although it's mostly oldies who are most vulnerable I think there's some evidence of more subtle, long-term problems for younger people.
Modern footballers are mostly highly tuned athletes, so 5% or so off their fitness levels could just make all the difference.

Tbh I would be more worried klopp feels the need to tell us this as it implies he knows we are up the creek and need a paddle but don't blame him.

Anyway it is what it is, the virus has created a massive **** storm for all clubs and nobody is doing a Chelsea right now even with a.vaccines coming.

If the money men at anfield cannot see the disaster coming right now when we have no cl then fair enough but the next step is having to sell to balance books. :)

    Only time will tell.

<laugh> He's throwing everybody under the bus.

The club for not buying players he needs.
Himself for not telling the thick players plainly enough how to play.
The thick players for not understanding/following instructions.

The bit about blaming himself for not getting instructions over well was a real shot at the players

The likes of Mbappe, Haaland and Sancho are often mention and dismissed on here but what about someone like Ousmane Dembele?

Established well known player that's already at a big club but only eighteen months left on his contract, young, quality and on the cusp of being a 'superstar' (like Suarez, Torres, etc when they joined)

Is more likely imo. Has had a few attitude issues that you hope was an age thing and might benefit from someone like Klopp putting his arm around him.

He's spent the majority of the last 3 seasons injured. The guy is made of glass, it would be another to our 1 game and then injured group.

Surely that's the flaw in the whole theory though? They must be able to see the financial danger of dropping away.
I still believe people are putting together a jigsaw picture from too few pieces.

    Maybe so.

I do know we spent on the never never last summer to get 3 very good players in.

The question has to be are fsg not willing to throw an interest free loan at us? Are they not able to? Who knows and only time will tell.

When we were going along in November it was mixed but no worse than anyone else bar city and utd. If we can get back to that level even we could probably secure 4th

Thing is Mbappe is going to be around the £200m mark with an astronomical weekly wage. Haaland's release is £65m (?) or so.
Dortmund are struggling a little in the Bundesliga (currently 5th). I wouldn't go near Dembele considering his injury history.

1 week to get at least 1 CB in. No excuses. Getting top 4 hinges on this.

Purely rumours but it's been said that we did have a deal lined up for Botman agreed but Lille changed the payment structure and talks broke down.

This could be something that goes on until the last minute of the window ...

speaking of worst decisions ever, Suarez was forced out by barca in a last ditch power play by the now disgraced bartomeu. 15 games, 12 goals for atletico, 7 points clear with match in hand at top of La liga.

    ooops.

makes us not being mind readers on vvd assault look almost sane.

Suarez is arguably the best footballer over the past 7-8 years after Messi and Ronaldo (and you can argue he was better than Ronaldo for a few of those years).

He won't ever get the respect his ability deserves because of the biting and racism. But he's certainly one the best footballers of all time.
