well since we have as Home Secretary someone who consorted with officials of a foreign state without permission then lied to the then PM about those contacts but then got her present gig i think any question lack of self awareness are redundant .

You only have to look at the calibre of people in crucial parliamentary positions these days to understand why we're in such a mess. It's like an Ealing Comedy version of a government.

The younger members will not get the "Ealing" reference.

    They're culturally deprived,
Couldn't think of a more up-to-date yet apt example.

As a side note there were some great Ealing comedies. Passport To Pimlico, Whisky Galore, Kind Hearts & Coronets to name but a few. Sunday afternoon regulars when I was a kid.

Just as an aside, when i was a kid i saw a film where a guy always had a pound in his pocket despite spending it (it was a saying his mother had that magically came true). Was that an Ealing film? (no idea of the title)

So, Matip out for a while now - who are we going to bring in? Not much time.

You wonder if there is something in the pipeline. JK has said its ligament so its going to be a few weeks minimum with Joel.
We simply need to move on this now, no excuses.

Matip out for anywhere up to 6 weeks. We need a CB

And in the summer we need to replace Matip, no point in keeping a crock imo

    Botman is the only option.

The uppity lad at liebig won't be available this January

Schurrs at ajax doesn't seem to be on agenda but should be cheap.

We can really take our pick if we have someone make a call.

Matip is a good player, his positional play last night was excellent but he is too injury prone and is now out for up to 6 weeks. We don’t expect to see VVD or Gomez play any meaningful part this season, two very serious injuries neither of which should be rushed back and particularly Gomez, as a young player, has had two very serious injuries already. Fabinho is now injured as well. The young lads are not ready to step up to replacement on a regular basis, I am not sure either of the young CBS will make the grade. So we need at least one CB now or the rest of the season will be very difficult with cobbled together pairings at CB .

I reckon Matip will be out a month at least, and now Fabinho is out injured.

It would be criminal not to sign anyone this month.

There is 'getting the right man' then there are emergencies - we simply have to get someone in, even if it's very short term

Sokratis would have been a decent stopgap.

Fact is, buying a CB this window wouldn't be a bad thing (depending on price) anyway.
We've got 3 first team CBs- so we're 1 down on what is usually acceptable.
Gomez is young and has had a number of injuries- so he probably should be rotated anyway, for both reasons
Matip is made of matchsticks and breaks too easy- so its unlikely he will ever be fit enough to be first team regular and he's not getting any younger.

All in all, we need at least One CB anyway and frankly we should be looking for another to replace Matip who appears to be abit of a lost cause.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we were looking all window. Klopp is known to downplay signings and given the world know were desperate, prob doing everything we can in public to suggest we aren’t going to pay over the odds
