Agree with your comments, we looked tired, not just body but of mind too tonight.
Other results again not helping, but much water to run under the bridge yet............

Massive game today, a must win for me. Was a bit disappointed after the Brighton game, expected a bit more from us, but to be honest going into it I had more of the mindset that it was a must not lose, rather than must win. Today is must win, we need to start getting wins to reduce the gap between us and Brighton and Newcastle.

The worry for me is where are the goals coming from? We look good in the build up, we have the players now to get on the break fast, but then when we get to the opposition box just don't know what to do. Theres talk that Mitro could start today, which I hope is true. We really miss having that presence up front, Cav tries but he’s no number 9. If we can get Robinson and Tete breaking forward and firing in crosses, at least in Mitro they have someone to aim for. Wing back is where we are strong, they seem wasted when they get forward and theres nobody to get crosses in to.

Lets hope today is the start of some good results coming our way!

A little guess at what we might go with today.....

    Areola
    Aina Tosin Andersen
    Tete Reed Anguissa Robinson
    Bobby Mitro Lookman

Robinson back in for Cav, allowing Bobby to move further forward. Someone had to drop out to let Mitro come in, for me thats RLC. Bobby is always dangerous, gets himself in good positions and Lookman can make something happen out of nothing.

Good morning Fabio, I'd agree with both of your posts.
If Mitro is to get his mojo back it won't happen sitting on the bench, so, yes he should start today as it's his skills we are missing.
Just in case people have missed it, ko is 3pm and being shown live on BBC One / BBC iPlayer.
An early goal from Mitro and our season pivots from there!

The team I posted wasn't far away, but some differences. Lemina starts instead of Reed and its Bobby playing right wing back instead of Tete, RLC keeps his place.

Don't mind that team tbh, Lemina was decent before his injury and just happy to see Mitro back in the team, hopefully get back to his best!

Newcastle just won at Everton too, so now makes this even more of a must win!

The results around us really aren't going our way recently.

Absolutely dominated that 1st half, only complaint could be that its only 1-0. Need to get that 2nd just to kill any hope West Brom have.

Mitro been brilliant, set up the goal but just his all round play has been really good. Makes a massive difference having a proper striker up there. Bobby, RLC, Lookman all looking dangerous.

Lets kill it off early in the 2nd!

Didn't really feel like posting my match thoughts yesterday, and having slept on it I still can't be bothered. Just frustrating to be honest, couldn't believe what I was watching at the start of that 2nd half.

Anyway, I want to look ahead. 3 of our next 4 are at The Cottage, we need to win at least 2 of the 3 home games imo. The home games are against Leicester, West Ham and Sheff Utd, it won't be easy but we are quickly running out of games. We are losing ground on at least 1 team every week, all the teams around us are picking up wins, even Sheff Utd! We need to start doing the same.

I said last week that this run of games could define our season, 2 points from 2 games so far not good enough. I still have faith, but something needs to happen and soon.

It's so frustrating watching us play so well, solid in defence (WBA had good fortune), making chances, very good chances, but not capitalizing on them. That is our only shortfall, but it's the hardest thing to achieve.
Looking ahead and assuming we don't pick up a centre forward today, Mitro looked in good form. He laid on many assists, once he gets some we will start to get the goals.
It looks a more difficult task to stay in the EPL right now, but if we can start putting the ball in the onion sack, we can survive.

We've been doing that for a few seasons now in many games, having one good half of a game and baffling fans with the other one, either making us think what's happened at half-time or why couldn't we play like this first half.
Is it Parkers Tactics or players attitudes ? or just the opposition collapses or recovers ?

For me, yesterday was all about complacency. The way we dominated the 1st half gave us a false sense of comfort, you should never feel comfortable on a 1-0 lead, no matter how well you're playing or how poor the opposition is.

If we go in at half time 2-0 up or better, which lets be honest would've been well deserved, then its a different game imo. Only being 1-0 down probably gave West Brom a lift, knowing they've rode their luck Big Sam would be saying just go for it to get back in the game, its all or nothing etc. They did that plus changed tactics a bit and we weren't prepared for it.

Parker was thoroughly outcoached yesterday. It's football - teams get lucky deflections (such as their first goal) and we need to be able to respond. He waited far too long on the subs, WBA were all over us for 25 minutes before he responded and we should have been 3-1 down by the time he changed anything. To be honest we were lucky to get a point and that is painful to say given that we have a better squad than WBA. I felt we missed Cairney yesterday; Lemina, RLC and Anguissa are all talented footballers but none of them seem to be leaders.

We are a very fragile team, which is pretty normal for a team fighting relegation. We need to be more clinical and stay calm... but I feel yesterday was the first line of the final chapter on this attempt at the Premier League.

Obviously can’t blame anyone but ourselves for the position we are in, but you look at some of the results going on around us recently and wonder what chance have you got??

Burnley winning at Anfield, Sheff Utd winning at Old Trafford, Newcastle haven’t won in god knows how long then suddenly win at Everton, Brighton haven’t won at home all season and currently beating Spurs.

Like I say, totally our own fault for the position we’re in, but we just can’t catch a break at all in our own results or those around us.

Another big game tonight, we really need to start getting the win column ticking over before the gap between us and the rest gets too big. I feel like our performances against the big teams have been much better than those against the teams around us, so thats what gives me hope of a positive result tonight.

I think Leicester are missing some key players too, not to say it will make it easy, as they have a decent squad, but hopefully something we can take advantage of.

A repeat of our 1st half performance at West Brom would go a long way to help get that win today, how good was that 1st half?? We need to put in a full 90 mins though. As for the team, think it could be a very similar team to the one that started at West Brom, possibly bring Reed back in to start?

Just to finish off with a little stat, after our draw with West Brom, Leicester are now the only team that we can do the league double over. If you said at the start of the season we would do the double over only 1 team, Leicester would be a long way down the list of teams that would come to mind first.

Leicester at the Cottage 6pm and live on BT Sport 2.
The second of the 2WS family set to tonight, bragging rights again up for grabs.
As Fabio has said Leicester has some key players missing, the only problem being is they bring in high quality replacements. Leicester do have problems when playing the bigger physical teams and their defeats have this in common. Compared to Leicester we are the physical side, and along with our own quality it should be a tight game.
It will be interesting if Maja gets on the bench and has some play time. Our forum has had little to say on our new CF so far, lets hope he does the business, perhaps not tonight but in the games to follow.

I think it depends when Maja was registered, there was a cut off time that teams had to register new players before a certain time on deadline day for them to be able to be in the squad for these midweek games.

Noted Fabio, but in the presser, Scott did allude to Maja being available with the restriction only due to his level of fitness.

Hopefully he was registered in time then, would be good to see him involved, even if just 10-15 mins off the bench.

It was quite late when the club announced him, but I suppose they could still have had him registered from much earlier in the day if everything was all agreed and signed.

Industrious but same story with us lacking up front and some creativity. Leicester played well, hard to break down and just didn't give us a sniff. Spirit still there, this Maja guy gonna have to be a Messi.
