Right, so with barely time to draw breath, it's off to the Lion's den we go on Tuesday. And I sincerely hope it's a radical improvement on the lacklustre, uninspired NCFC we witnessed yesterday. Norra single effort on target! Not one. And that was with Pukki and Idah back in the mix. Hopefully, we'll be a little more 'on it' this time round. The home meeting, in early November ended as a 0-0 stalemate. Team news to follow after tomorrow's presser. Here's a finish worthy of winning any game
Here's the WhoScored preview with probable line-ups: https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1487559/Preview/England-Championship-2020-2021-Millwall-Norwich If you take out Placheta's sub appearances, his rating is 6.99 when playing from the start. That surprised me.
The above link from RER gives a Bet365 score of 0-2. I would take that, but based on Saturdays performance this score looks optimistic. We weren’t given much time with the ball before being pressed or marked by at least two players. Cantwell seemed fairly ineffectual.
The moaning about our display against Boro completely overlooks several factors. Boro are a big Club with good players, like him or loath him Warnock knows his job and his plan worked to perfection and in the end we did well to get a point out of the game with 10 men. Cantwell was completely surprised by the man to man marking and couldn't cope with it and the constant attention Emi got eventually had the inevitable result although both bookings were a bit harsh. Millwall haven't got a player good enough to man mark Cantwell out of the game and with Emi suspended Rowett will have no idea what side we will put out which gives him no chance to come up with a detailed plan. Having said that Rowett is no mug and has tightened things up defensively recently. They are a big side and whatever side we put out has to keep the ball on the deck, move it quickly and play to the strengths of our strike force otherwise we could struggle. I fear two defeats in the next two games but if we can get 4 points out of them we really could start to dream.
Emi could be replaced by either Placheta or Hernandez, so any attempt at man marking would have to deal with pace as well and that made a difference when Placheta came on as sub against Boro. Millwall will attack more, which could allow us more counter-attacks to take advantage of that pace with Todd arriving to either take a pass or shoot from any rebounds. Millwall will try to use their height advantage to score from set pieces but we dealt with those well against Boro.
Hope Kenny comes straight back in, he's been excellent in midfield. Soto presumably won't be involved after playing for the academy today. Krul Aarons Hanley Gibson Giannoulis Skipp McLean Hernandez Vrancic Cantwell Pukki Onel over Placheta for me because we'll need as much physicality as we can get against Millwall. From the comments Farke made in the press conference, Quintilla is currently below Mumba and Sorensen in the pecking order at full-back.
I really hope you're right about this, Rick. The games have been boring lately. And it would be nice if there's a stream with Chis Goreham commentating.
I've only just noticed the kick-off is 1800 having thought it was 1900. Hope nobody else makes that mistake!
In future, maybe just refer to your factual, info-packed MDT for such small (but significant) detail.
I got out of doing that because of Bure's superstition about posting the wrong details! I did double check it though after seeing the time in the BBC fixtures.
Today's match is available to watch exclusively on the club’s iFollow video platform. As the fixture was originally scheduled for Saturday, January 23, the free season ticket holder offer does not apply to this match, meaning UK supporters must purchase a match pass to watch. Well that's a kick in the bollocks for season ticket holders. It's a midweek game and should be treated as such. ie available as part of your package. Never ceases to amaze me how the club treats its supporters.
I hope somebody comes up with a live stream link. The ones suggested in the past few weeks have worked well for me, but nothing compares to Chris Gorham on BBC Radio Norfolk for commentary.
The hesgoal ones are good as well. I've also learned to keep the link available in the match thread so that if the stream hangs up or has prolonged buffering, I can click on the stream link and start again with a fresh stream. I then use my phone to follow comments on the match thread.
