Assuming Elland is still in hospital/poorly I will start a breakfast thread.

Quite simple. What a great result for Leeds at the weekend. Some great individual performances added to a great team showing.

On the bad news front Rodrigo and Raphinia both going off injured is a concern with both no doubts for Everton on Wednesday.

Due to the above we ended the match with 11 players who were part of the squad that got us promoted. How much credit do they deserve for stepping up? Surely people should now see why Bielsa is considered one of the best coaches in the world?

    Good morning,

Wishing Ell all the best. Glad to see he still managed to keep up with the game yesterday from his hospital bed.

Hopefully Hernandez can step up. He can do everything Rodrigo has done these last few weeks and although he's knocking on now I'm sure he can manage a game after not playing much this season. The second replacement will be much more difficult.

The way all of the players have stepped up has been incredible but Dallas has been the one that's impressed me the most.

    Morning All

It's deadline day and my god it's going to be a boring one. We don't sign on deadline day any more so It's bloody dull. I've been shouting since December but Bielsa seems to be happy with squad.

Great we won yesterday but the injury list is racking up that's another 2 player we got fill hole with and supposedly Bamford was limping at full time as well?

Absolutely fantastic display from the team as a whole, for me lord bamf was m.o.m for the way he led the line and the sizzler he scored, plus great pass for Dallas then unselfishly laid it on a plate for jacko.
How many strikers would have had a go themselves in that situation and rightly so.
Only disappointment was Costa he was dire,he looks disinterested and when you think we paid nearly the same for raph who is s class or two above.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

firstly I want to look at yesterday objectively: first half Leeds dominated possession had scored a goal, had one disallowed forced Kasper into making 3 fine saves. Leeds deserved to lead at half time but went in level. Rodgers needed to stop Leeds fluency and succeeded by playing a back 5 who swamped the middle and stifled Phillips. Foxes now on top and took Leeds 15 minutes to work out how to stop them, and in that time Meslier pulled off a couple of saves, which on another day could have been costly. Then a passage of play that was sheer genius saw the ball taken out of our area, whipped down the line, back into Raphinah who played a sublime ball to Bamford who smashed another goal of the season contender. Foxes then went 3 at the back and battered the Leeds defence time and time again and we stood firm but yet again another day could have seen us concede, but yet again we saw a brilliant piece of breakaway counter attacking and Leicester were dead. At the end the stats read 50/50 possession and we had many fewer shots and shots on goal. In some respects we can count ourselves lucky that we held firm, but boy did we take our chances well and the best team won convincingly. Have we sorted out what to do to stop another Chelsea result, a Man Utd result or indeed the previous Leicester thumping we got. Looks like it

Every National Newspaper raving about Leeds again, every journo saying Leeds are now safe and everyone should be happy that Bielsa’s Leeds are saving football. Journos now accept that Bielsaball is a thing of beauty and very hard for any team to live with when it goes well. Now proclaiming Bielsa as a football purist, jeez where have these planks been and why not do research about his previous teams and style of play before calling Bielsaball childish, silly etc and a few months later get converted.

Have a feeling that if we lose Rodrigo and Raphinah we will get to see Gelhardt or Greenwood on the bench with a view to blooding them. I think Pablo will start at 10 and be replaced by Joffy

    Some good comments there Doc.

Don't suppose you've got a poster of Joffy on your bedroom wall by any chance have you ? <laugh>

Hopefully you're right about these youngsters though and Cresswell made the bench yesterday <ok>

Fantastic result yesterday and even better as we didn't expect it. A few scares but we were the better team overall and a much more convincing performance than Newcastle, who looked very good in their win over Everton at the weekend.

    Player ratings:
Meslier - 8 - Solid performance, made some good saves and his distribution was a bit better but could still be improved. Probably could've caught at least 1 corner rather than punching it.

Ayling - 6 - Needs to get his rhythm back at RB. Better than Newcastle but still lost his man for the goal.

Struijk - 8 - A great performance and I think he'll start to become a mainstay in the defence for years to come if he keeps these performances up. Played his part in both the 2nd and 3rd goals as well.

Cooper - 8 - Another solid performance by the captain, marshalled the defence well and won pretty much everything that he went in for. That sliding tackle towards the end was a thing of beauty.

Alioski - 6 - Better than against Newcastle but still struggles defensively in this league. Fine for a makeshift left back when we have injuries but definitely somewhere we need to strengthen. I think it would be good if he signed a contract and we got a capable LB in the summer and then he's a good player for the bench if he wants that. Then if a year or so we could get some money for him.

Phillips - 6 - Better than Newcastle but still lost his man too many times in the first half, needs to improve and protect our backline. Seems to switch off and not able to follow runners from set pieces.

Raphinha - 8 - Another good performance from him and a good assist to his name. Could've got himself a goal in the first half too if it wasn't for a good save by their keeper. I like him a lot as he has pace, skill and the work ethic. Not a lazy flair player so suits us perfectly. I'm hoping his injury was just precautionary as we'd miss him on the wing.

Rodrigo - 5 - Hard to judge after such a short time on the pitch. Didn't really do anything to justify a score higher than 5.

Dallas - 8 - Solid performance from him. Just puts so much effort in, is defensively aware in midfield and I love the little one twos that he does with players. Good finish and run for his goal as well.

Harrison - 8 - Put a shift in defensively to help out Alioski and puts so much effort in. Got another goal which will help his confidence and worked the keeper with a shot in the first half with a first time strike, I liked that he went for it first time as he does have a tendency to hold on to the ball. Which brings me to frustrating part of his game when he holds on to the ball for too long either not putting it into the box or losing the ball in our own half, needs to improve this side of his game.

Bamford - 9 - My man of the match. Got a very good goal, one very unselfish assist and another good assist. Much better all round performance too as he's not been as good the last few weeks but more than made up for it with his performance. Unlucky with the disallowed Klich goal too as the save to keep his header out before the offside was very good.

    Subs:
Klich - 7 - Can't remember him doing loads but it's those little clever runs and passes for the 3rd goal that he's really good at. Thing this game highlights the issue with Rodrigo and Klich not working together.

Costa - 4 - Poor. Lost the ball at any opportunity. Lacking confidence maybe? I'm thinking come the end of the season a winger will be something that Bielsa will be looking to add alongside a CM and LB as Costa doesn't look like someone who will push Harrison and Raphinha unfortunately. Wouldn't mind us looking at Michael Olise or Ovie Ejaria if Reading don't come up as I think they'd both be upgrades that are affordable.

Don't worry, if we lose to Everton 1-0 with our four big signings all out injured they'll be back to calling Bielsa a fraud and proclaiming we'd be challenging for the top six if only we had Pulis in charge. It's getting very Orwellian the way certain journalists can push a different narrative from one week to another and back again. I've come to the conclusion that most of the media is now entirely reliant on controversial opinions for the sake of clickbait.

An absolute all-round team performance from the lads!!
Brendan Rogers face just before we scored the third goal was a picture, he was Stoney faced watching his team team getting dismantled before him and could do nothing about it.
Rodrigo/Raphina...........injured !!! did we play better when the Spaniard went off? I hope i am wrong, very much wrong but has anyone else picked up on the summer imports dont want to pass or interchange play with Bamford !!! Newcastle game it was very much apparent, both players had only to square the ball to him and finished the the Magpies off early doors, i just hope i am wrong and they both watched what Bamford did for our third goal, very unselfish of him, a team player.

I said and shall reiterate that Alioski was at fault for there goal for not tracking back and picking up the player that Maddison passed to in the LB area, yes agreed he is not a LB but if we don't have anyone better in the U23's then offload them and get someone in IMO.

Sturijk is the find of the season, the lad is getting better by each game, will be very interesting who Amigo picks when all are fit, who would you play at the two CH positions?? well i would play a fit Koch and Llorente and Sturijk just infront of them to protect the back four.........Mr Philips, well 50 mill gets offered then its bye bye, get the money for being in the PL add the 50 mill, add it all together, get a quality LB and a striker to keep Bamford on his toes and move on to our next season in the PL and see what it brings.

So fellow supporters, forum posters, critics, what are your thoughts of Radz now, i knew he was going to do well for the club, could we ever of imagined that we would be mid table of the PL over 3 seasons ago, beating a team that is well established in the PL, even won the title a few seasons ago......the answer is NO, the pundits praising our play, investors like the 49ers throwing money in the pot, good times are back at LS11 and i for one are so happy for the faithful who went to the dizzy lows of going to places like Tranmere, Oxford and other poor venues, especially in a midweek league match, so proud to be a Leeds fan.

Speaking of Pundits has anyone ever worked out the make up of these pundits. Liverpool have Mark Lawrenson, Steve Macmanamen, Souness, Fowler, Hansen, Carragher, Kelly Kates is Dagleish daughter, Michael Owen, Jamie Redknapp, Aldridge, Haman, Neil Mellor, Rush, David James, Beglin, Danny Murphy, Barnes, Phil Thompson. Theres 20 from Liverpool just to start with. So obviously Liverpool are way over represented on our screens followed by Man Utd and then its just dribbles from other clubs. But obviously tv broadcasters are either biased and all scouse lovers or just basically scared of having their cars on bricks

Not long ago Bournemouth were promoted and did pretty well under Eddie Howe, getting better each season until last. Last season both Villa-and Norwich who got promoted proved how easy it is to hang around in the relegation zone all season with Villa just escaping on goal difference. The talk of last season was Sheffield Utd who played well, competed and they won a lot of freinds. This season Leeds Utd have won friends home and abroad and will be talked about for years to come. The manner of their football philosophy and the master coach Bielsa re now legends. Yes folks whatever happens for the next few years this first season assault on the Premier League will be talked about every year

Couple of things that came to my mind watching the football this weekend and especially Leeds.

Struijk- really pleased with how he is handling himself back in his natural position of CB. If he continues to improve as he is next we will have 4 CB's to choose from..
I expect Koch & Llorente to be first choice. Cooper is getting older and will slowly become the back up CB or even move to a top Championship side to see out his career. Struijk will be the third choice if not fighting for a starting place and that is very exciting to me.

Attitude- I watched the Villa game Saturday night and something struck me. Now I have commented before that any team with Smith,Terry, Grealish and the likes of Watkins involved are going to be horrible.
They shouted and screamed at the officials at every decision. The swearing and hissy fits thrown if they did not get a decision was embarrassing. The diving and cheating is another big thing.
My point is although all players moan and disagree with officials I do not see the same dissent amongst our players as much as I do with a lot other clubs. Perfect example yesterday- we score an offside goal. Look at the way Schmeicel went running and screaming at the lino.
Leicester score an offiside goal and our players do not murmer, just wait for the officials to do their job.

All football players have the hissy fits in them, do you think Bielsa as our players not only playing to a different level on the pitch but in their attitudes and respect?

Good point Hemase, Amigo won't have anything like that in his team. And I reckon it'll come back in our favour, refs will remember the treatment they get and what goes around comes around, not consciously or deliberately, but they may look more favourably on an honest team.

Did an on-line clairvoyant thing yesterday. Apparently, I know someone called Steven from Wakefield who doesn't think Bamford is good enough for the Premier League. Honestly, the rubbish these people come out with, if you are going to make something up at least make it believable :emoticon-0103-cool:
