I think there will be a lot of tired legs this morning.... and as many of the 'first team' played lets hope they recover quickly as not only Burton on Saturday but Lincoln again next Tuesday. What last night showed us in the conditions was who has heart and who has none...
Enjoyed the game, both good teams, although for us, same story, we may be top scorers but we should be converting more of the chances we create, finishing games off. Great solo goal by the Doc, maybe should have taken one of the pens? I think their keeper was laid down waiting for Scott’s pen to reach him, generally the pens where poor, pitch and conditions didn’t help. Biggest question for me is, wtf is going on with our pitch, lack of money?? we know where that sits... and the egg chasers season not started yet.. Oh well, let’s concentrate on the league #UTT
The pitch was in a shocking state. Hearing the reason is the annual relaying, or whatever what was booked in for the end of last season but as we know the season was extended. So they only had time to do half of it in the very short time scale the club have when the pitch is not played on. Not forgetting we do share it with the rugby club.
Magennis’ attitude stinks He’s half arsed doesnt give a **** at times it seems Very little effort to close them down And his touch and hold up play is non existent. I know money is a factor but we go in for a left back cos we have Fleming injured Why not a centre forward as dobbin is injured?? I don’t expect a few million quid centre forward Just a target man who’s prepared to graft Can’t be that difficult to get one
Surely the training pitch they spend most of their time on isn't in as pristine a condition as the matchday pitch, so they should be used to playing on less than perfect surfaces anyway.
Thought it was pretty even. Some decent football from both sides, even more so considering the conditions, at least until either side got into the other's final third then it was poor from both. For us, that was largely down to the lack of movement up front, with McCann selecting Magennis again. Smallwood's frustration was there for all to see. If McCann is to persist with his formation, it has to be Wilks, KLP and ano wide man up front (hopefully a fit again Whyte, or else Mayer or, gulp, at least give Scott a chance from the off to prove whether or not he really is that bad).
I suspect the training pitch is currently in a better state than the terrible pitch they played on last night, it generally is. It's identical to the KCOM pitch, identical size, identical grass, identical undersoil heating etc, but tends to stay in better nick, as apparently the stadium itself badly impacts on the grass.
I didn't say that. I would have thought booking a complete re laying of the pitch would take a bit of forward planning and the club are restricted to when this can take place because two clubs share the same pitch throughout the year. Last season was touch and go, our season was extended and the rugby couldn't make their minds up what they were going to do, play on or not. It was not a normal end to the season. I also think the firms that do this sort of thing would need a lot of notice and are probably more then a bloke on a bike with a spade and a box of grass seed.
Magennis is playing his way into the reserves at the moment. We look way more dangerous with KLP playing centrally. Is Josh out of contract in the summer?
Don't know, the rugby lot changed their minds from one day to the next on what to do last season. All I heard is that the window for a full relaying of the pitch was missed for one reason or another, all out of the clubs control. Perhaps the firm we had booked where booked up themselves with other clients In July and August ? I don't know.
But they couldn't make their minds up what to do. We played on into early summer and the rugby couldn't make a decision. Do you think the club want the pitch to be in this state then ?
He was absolutely dreadful last night. He looked like a goalkeeper playing his first game as an emergency centre forward.
They announced in June that the season would restart in August, but both FC's fixtures in August were away and their first home game was on Sept 24th. It may well be that the grass people had other pitches booked to relay and couldn't do it, but we knew the pitch was free after our last game, for a couple of months, so it was nothing to do with the rugby. Under the current circumstances, it would hardly be a surprise if City wanted to avoid the cost of relaying it.
