  1. Has Rodwell not been retained in that role?

It seems that the EFL are the fly in the ointment this time, not Donald as happened with FPP.

They're asking for agreements that look sensible but are somewhat illogical.

They want the 'current shareholders' to guarantee the future finances of the club if Louis-Dreyfus is unable.

That's none of their business tbh and they're really stretching the boundaries of their rights and responsibilities.

The only good aspect of this is that if Donald feels unwilling to commit he may sell his entire shareholding. That would not only rid us of the idiot but would leave the EFL looking foolish. They've already cleared Louis-Dreyfus so would have no option but to ratify the takeover, without the guarantee that they're seeking from Donald.

After the mess they've made of previous takeovers they're simply bigging up their part.

Sounds like another total cock up on the EFL's part. The organisation needs to be radically changed.

What they are requesting makes complete sense.

Surely all parties would just need to prove their finances for their share holding ? If I owned 20% of a business I wouldn’t have to prove that I had the funds to finance 100% of it.

    That's what's happening.

If Donald is owning 20% for example, he needs to prove he can commit 20% of the costs needed to keep the club operational for (I think) 2 years.

It's not a large number and I reckon he's shown how he can do it, but that they're either waiting for EFL to look at it again, or they've looked at it and contracts are now being re-drawn slightly to accomodate any changes they've been asked to make.

    Just a guess tho.

Other than the fact that if SD and JS can't afford to fund 20% they'll knock back the deal and SD and JS will have to "not be able to afford" to support 100%

Quite right, whatever the case the EFL can't enforce what they're asking.

If none of the future shareholders put in a shilling the EFL can't make them.

Let’s hope so, which is what was originally quoted the other week with Nixon advising it’s just admin and it won’t fall through.

If the takeover is allowed Donald will be in a much better financial state to 'agree to EFL demands' ...

... the EFL have backed themselves into a chicken & egg situation.

The EFL turn down a takeover, from a football based billionaire, of a struggling impoverished League One club ...

... you can just see the headlines now can't you <laugh>

I'd expect that's the delay, Louis-Dreyfus was cleared weeks ago.

It makes sense though that they're doing this.

Let's say in a completely hypothetical scenario that KLD owns 60% of the club and the other Madrox guys own 40%. We all KNOW that any extra investment is going to come in from KLD.

But lets say in a year KLD decides its no fun any more and says he's not putting any more money in other than his obligation to keep the club running. And then lets say there's a pandemic again, and the owners need to keep the club afloat for a short period with their own cash. KLD is within his rights to say that it doesnt matter how rich he is, he's only going to contribute 60% of the running costs as his share.

So the people that own 40% need to show that they can pay their share to keep the club running if no / reduced income was possible.

It's perfectly reasonable for the EFL to request this in my opinion. And I very much doubt it came as a surprise to Madrox or KLD, other than that the checks are now more intensive than they expected.

I just wish they'd be quicker about it.

In reality - KLD will likely remain motivated and keep investing. But nobody should rely on that and its good of the EFL to make sure SD and co are contractually obliged to help out if needed.

I think where it sounds stupid though is that they’ve already assessed and passed sartori and the fat dwarf in their original buy out so why should they have to ask it now

think its more a case of getting them to commit on paper that they're still willing to fund the gap in the new arrangements.

Bearing in mind the snivelling crooks removed their obligation the last time...

If the new owner has passed that’s all there is to it, the current owners wealth has nothing to do with the EFL. The Arse holes need to be told this by lawyers. If they can’t afford to be in charge now what do the EFL do, sack them? I doubt that as it’s got **** all to do with them.
