Joel Asoro has sealed a permanent exit from Swansea City - so what does that mean for Sunderland?

Feel sorry for the lad, head twisted by agents.

Both him and Maja had their heads twisted. Maja was always a better player though as has been proven. Watched Asoro for Swansea after he left "under a cloud" (said something along the lines of being bullied IIRC) but never substantiated it with anything

Too many young lads these days happy to have money rather than success. They're not arsed about being remembered anywhere.

For what its worth Asoro was ahead of Maja right up to his departure, he had so much potential, choosing Sunderland ahead of a number of bigger clubs who were after him when he signed. His thinking being that his career would progress more rapidly here than elsewhere. That it never really did is as much our loss as his, but with the right attitude and support he still has plenty of time to fulfill his early promise, after all he is only 21 years of age.

Agreed. We have to remember that as a club we weren’t particularly well run in any department. Anyone who was any good was more through fluke than design.

I still think he has the potential to be a decent player. A season in league 1 with us could of been really beneficial for his development. Wonder if he regrets leaving

Who knows? Let's face it, hanging around here probably wouldn't have done him much good in retrospect, and anyway he might have been offered 39 shillings and six a week by the two chancers. We can guess that him being sold was ideal for them.

Maybe the money has taken the edge of Asoro. Mind bogglingly, with a signing on fee and say, £7k a week for three years, he could be almost a millionaire, and he's has done nothing at all. I think cash like that might have blunted me a bit!

But, like all footballers, he has to decide when to behave like a man and tell his agent what to do for him, rather than a schoolboy waiting to be told what to do next.

I recall my father driving me and another couple of friends from Sunderland to see the lads play at Swansea ... must have been over 60 years ago, so you will know the roads were not motorways ! He drove all the way there and back himself, and only fell asleep once at the wheel !!! We drew 1 each. Did not see much of Swansea. Aren't we Sunderland supporters slightly mad.
