It’s fantastic. Great acting. The pen thing is made up though.

Most pens are made up, as we found out today.

    Well done you.

However, next Saturday I won’t tell if you have a sneaky one ;)

....only joking before I get slated. The dishwasher has proved to me that we aren’t in control.

I had an uncle who took me to my first Saints game. Another would have taken me to Fratton; a third would have taken me to Highbury. I curse the first of those bastards regularly!

I've said before that VAR made live football so unenjoyable that it pushed Onionman Jr and me to give up our season tickets.

I won't rush to judgment but the thing that concerns me about today is that I'm not even angry about it. I watched live and didn't really care when the penalty was given. I just accepted the decision would be poor. I didn't care at all when we didn't get the penalty at the other end. It was looked at by the "experts" at Stockley and rejected and I didn't even curse. The result itself? So what? VAR had made the game unwatchable and I wasn't invested in the result. I felt the same about other games recently. I even took the 9-0 in my stride with near indifference.

I thought VAR might stop me watching football. I suspect it has now. I expected it to be through anger, shouting and fiery impotent rage but in fact it turns out to have killed the game for me with complete and total apathy. The spectacle of football has been dimmed forever by VAR. I don't celebrate goals and I don't bemoan bad decisions. I'm not really interested. And I know that the authorities will never declare it to have been a failure and bin it. They'll tinker and tinker, the referees will tell us it's all new, all improved, clearer and I still won't care.

We'll see (as I say, I don't plan to rush to judgment), but I suspect this might be the end for me. If not immediately, soon.

    Vin

Well said. I still have a bit of anger in me <laugh> but I too am on that page. Such a crying shame & I can’t even be bothered to list all the points again. I know my son, who’s now in his early 30’s, is similar too; I taught him “SFC” even tho he went to a Fareham Pompey school & he’s become totally lethargic because of terrible referring & astoundingly useless implementation of Var. Will football give a dam? Nope of course not, supporters aren’t needed now. That was highlighted when the revenue generation flipped from fans to tv & has been even more accentuated now.

If VAR can decide that a player's shirt is 1mm offside, how can they not tell the ref to at least have a look at these handballs on the monitor, and can they not tell the ref Bednarek didnt even touch Martial?

VAR could be good. Just use it properly. We are getting fecked over.

Maybe VAR should be overseen by referees from European Leagues, for complete independence and neutrality.
At the moment we have referees who are friends and, at times, close working colleagues being asked to publicly correct errors that their mates have made.
Maybe they are too close to it for it to work properly.
We need VAR officials who will have the balls to tell a ref “if you are giving a penalty for the Bertrand incident then you should give one for the incident in the Wolves box”, rather than officials copping out by using the “no obvious error” line.
Regarding the Bertrand “handball” the referee mimed, with both hands, that Bertrand had, pretty much stuck his hands out to stop the ball. At best he should have reviewed that on screen because he was clearly thinking that something that hadn’t happened, had.

He's absolutely right but no one that matters in the governing bodies of 'our game' will take a blind bit of notice. They're getting their money and are happy bunnies.

Just watched the painful highlights on MOTD2 but just realised that Danny’s goal against Liverpool was not on the list for goal of the month. Is it just me that thinks it was worthy of inclusion especially as goals like Pogba’s were included?

Can I just say that ANYONE who thinks we are not in danger of a relegation battle ( if things continue like they are ) are not being realistic .

Well if you take that literally... then obviously we will go down if things continue as they are.

We have lost 6/6 - so if things continue as they are we will lose every game for the rest of the season and get relegated. Do you think that will happen?

    Neither do I.
