Oh I see! Yes I can see how you thought it might have been Danny’s from yesterday! Do you think Danny’s goal against Liverpool should have been included?
Let me see, that’s going back to prehistoric times when Saints used to win in the league, so yes, definitely!
Brinkworth, did you read this (about Clattenburg) or see it on TV, or similar? I'd be very interested in hearing Clattenburg's explanation of how the two incidents were seen and decided.
Daily Mail this morning: MY VERDICT Daily MailMARK CLATTENBURG 'SOUTHAMPTON will feel aggrieved — especially given the decisions that have gone against them in the Premier League in recent weeks — but referee Graham Scott and VAR Martin Atkinson got it right yesterday. Wolves won their penalty because the ball hit Ryan Bertrand’s outstretched arm and he was making himself unnaturally bigger. Had Nelson Semedo’s cross hit the arm that was tucked in, he wouldn’t have been penalised. Southampton were not awarded their penalty because Leander Dendoncker’s arm was in a natural position. The ball has come from over the top of an opposition player and it hits him on the upper arm. So I can see why one was given and the other wasn’t.' Just made me more fed up with the whole thing.
For outstretched arm,I saw the top of his arm running parallel to his body, so even if his arm was bent forwards at the elbow, his arm was in no way outstretched. But, moving on, this is precisely why VAR won’t work. The ref can see exactly the same as us, but they bend the truth (lie) to cover their mate’s arse. Maybe defenders will need to be trained in Irish Dancing to avoid future handballs.
This is why the rule itself is ****ed. Why are penalties such a.big deal in football? They should be an almost impossible thing that comes of outrageous cheating. Instead you are in an innocuous part of the box and chip the ball up at a player and you can get a game winning penalty. Absurd.
They don't know what they're talking about ... Unnaturally bigger - Handball Natural position - NOT Handball
I have long thought the penalty "box" should in fact be a semi circle with each part an equal distance from the centre of the goal - similar to 5 a side Not that I think this is a massive issue or that it would revolutionise the game - but would be more fair and far more logical. A foul in the corner of the box rarely deserves to be punished with an almost certain goal.
