I agree, I’m not a conspiracy theorist either, I know it’s out there and in some cases serious. When I’m eventually offered the vaccine, I will take it. But passports to say we’ve had a vaccine? Do people have to show a passport every time they go to a nightclub to say they are STI free? How about HIV? Minor but unpleasant things such as eye infections that are easily spread?

Nobody seems to fully understand the transmission rate following the vaccines either, so you can have your passport and still spread it. Likewise, you can not have your passport and still spread it. So what is the passport for exactly and who is it protecting? People take their chances with any diseases brought about by smoking, substance abuse or alcohol, we don’t make them have ‘protection passports’.

Not to mention, I’m in my mid 30’s with no known health issues, so do I not get to go to a shop until September when I’m offered my vaccine, as key worker vaccines don’t seem to be on the table?

Lots of questions rather than solutions I’m afraid, but the talk about it seems very over the top and knee jerk.

This is brilliant but worth noting that the two doses were given with a 3 week gap, in accordance with Pfizer’s recommendations.

As you probably know, their civil liability wasn't waived....more that the government took over the responsibility for it.

    Correct Fran, from the Independent:

“The Department of Health and Social Care confirmed an indemnity was in place for Pfizer and added that the government would be adding the coronavirus vaccine to the list of vaccinations covered by the Vaccine Damages Payments Act.

This pays out a one-off £120,000 payment to people who are permanently disabled or harmed as a result of a listed vaccination.”

I can 100% see why they have done it and personally have no issue or believe it makes any vaccine and less safe.

Either that or no one here lives within that postcode. I see they're asking everyone in so15 5 to get a test too.

About 1% of the population of the UK perished as a direct result of World War II; it wasn't that deadly (in most cases) of a war for the average citizen. Most of that happened overseas. Considerable restrictions were put in place to minimize deaths and damage from years of bombing campaigns, though.

    Were those mistakes?

    <laugh> WWII, you serious?

I think the British, and Canadian, and - eventually - US governments sanctioned quite a high level of risk in response to that particular existential threat to liberty. Hard to see Operation Overlord getting approval from a government that’s asking everyone to stay indoors.

Did anyone say it wasn't possible? OR did people just say that it was a risk for the government to go against the guidelines and thusly how the vaccine had been tested.

Well, i was being slightly tongue in cheek, but people, as often, have been pretty vehement in their ability to attack the Gov at any opportunity.

People did say it was a gamble, or risk, and maybe it was, but in part coupled with collaboration with experts.

I think at times, with all the negativity apportioned to the Gov, much of which is justified, maybe we could open our hearts to give credit where it is due :emoticon-0148-yes:

A gamble is a gamble, or was it an educated guess, or even a calculated risk... for f***s sake move on... Re vaccines, for the first time this government have got something right.. not that hard actually if you look at the odds. But they did.... Just explain it to the one odd hundred thousand families who have lost members, when the number could have been half or less..
Moving on involves those most affected get the most support... Watch and judge and vote when you get the chance. Vote for those who gave contracts to their mates. Vote for those who don't give a **** about those who are grieving. VOTE FOR THOSE WHO ACT UNLAWFULLY. OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Vote for the Trumpian twats. The unforgiven.

Move on. Then carry on. Ok.

I'm sure there is something in this post for everyone, just not sure what.

How do we know the number of deceased should have been half or less?

How do we know how long anyone had left to live that has unfortunately lost their lives?

How do we judge who needs most support? Families who are grieving? People who have had surgery or health conditions not referred? Families who haven't worked for a year?

I certainly dont know the answers, but I'm confused with that post. I thought it was meant for the poetry thread.

    I think it’s about 30-40. I just don’t know who served first
