All credit to SAFC for gritting their teeth and digging themselves out of the deepest hole ... ... that's exactly what we've been lacking. Can't wait for Tuesday night.
But then you’ll get those who “know better” saying “why change a winning team” I don’t think he can win with some people. His subs made a massive difference today. And he made them with time to spare.
Agree with all of that. Was interested to what he had to say today with us being poor and to be fair to him he was brutally honest. I think Swindon is a big moment for him because we can’t start with that system, today isn’t the first time it hasn’t worked for us. Your point on the standard of the players is spot on imo. I’m going to be patient with Johnson because I think he’s got a tough ask to implement the style he will want fully with what he’s had available so far. Think we’re moving in the right direction with him though
Lots saying pre-match that you should never change a winning team, so after that performance (even though we drew) do we stick with the team that finished for the next game.
Apologies then, I thought you meant when we were two nil down you said we'd get back into it, not a pre game prediction.
Fight you for it. It's his confidence now that's made the difference, seems to be coming from the manager because loads of them have improved.
Agree, but it was immediately apparent that the system wasn't working. We've looked leggy a lot in recent games, he should have freshened things up today,
I don't think any manager or even the team members themselves can legislate for so many players performing as badly as we did in the first half. Some are saying we were leggy...bollocks they were just crap
Honest about the players, no mention of him getting the formation wrong and us being overrun in midfield as a result. At least he recognised the problems and changed things second half but I do feel he needs to learn he doesn't have to change things every game. He made just the one change from midweek to the starting lineup today but half the team weren't playing the same positions. The defence are running on bare bones and chopping and changing them around all the time won't help them.
There are times when we need to realise Wyke doesn't suit the game ... ,,, even though he's hard to bench.
It's hard to bench someone when we don't have any other strikers. O'Brien tries but isn't really a striker and the only other one we have has been injured since we signed him
You make some fair points, but I still think almost half the team were just playing crap...they would have whatever the formation or where they were playing. The first 4 going off in the 60th minute, should have been replaced at half-time or even before then.
Not denying they were poor but they aren't helped by playing different positions every week. Being expected to play the same each game when you aren't in the same position will be pretty hard.
No we leave it to the manager , he has to decide on the players he picks , he decides the playing system , he is the man who knows the players and what they have to offer . He is also the man who takes the praise or the criticism dependent upon the results he achieves , leave it to LJ he is getting more right than wrong ,we are not going to win every game in this league - no side will . LJ will pick the side that he thinks can win the game or if things are not working he is not scared to change things around unlike some of our previous Managers who just hoped that something might change . Bad day at the office but still not a bad result at one of the sides with the best home record in EFL1 Tuesday we go again !!!
