Pah, we still looked like Lambert's team in that game. Can see Dozzell being dropped, lost possession a lot today but didn't counter that by making influential passes.
As per my pre-match prediction, I’d take a 1-1 draw. Did think we benefitted by Lincoln looking overly conservative and passive in the second half. End product still needs more, but we were improved in that second half. Moves us to a point off the play offs with a game in hand. We’ve got some tough matches against Portsmouth and Charlton coming up, but there’s a lot of winnable games on paper in the run in. If we do somehow scrape top six, I have little faith we’d get through.
Really? This absolutely shocks me. Dozzell is not a footballer. Decent result from a poor performance is encouraging because we can play better than that but we don’t really have better players to bring in. Skuse would help us if he’s fit soon. I think we will see slow and steady personnel changes over the remaining weeks and a massive clear out in the summer.
Also think it’s worth pointing out that it’s going to look like a “Lambert team” for a couple of weeks as yet. Cook presumably had a couple of training sessions last week, but Sunday was a day off, yesterday presumably light training before tonight’s match. Needs time on the training pitch.
Naturally, Cook has had no time on the training pitch with the lads yet and it will take longer than usual to get his tactics across due to the Sat/Tue schedule. There will be changes to the team between now and the end of the season I'm sure. Skuse for Dozzell will be an obvious one when he's fit.
Technically they are probably an improvement on the players we've had in recent years but it's takes more than having talent and technical ability to be a good player e.g. Dozzell
It looks like we're getting back up to a squad which has alot of options, which we haven't seen in well over a season problem is too many have been out for a while and then played a lot of games. In that team pretty much 7 of those players have come back from a reasonably long term injury in the past month
Take your point in terms of being drilled as a Lambert team but what is probably reflective of part of the problem at the club is only 3 players that started today were his signings!! Let's hope whatever division we are in Paul Cook is backed in the transfer market but not so much to throw the baby out with the bathwater
Something I've noticed the past couple of matches is the midfield not picking up runners, it looks like they are zonal marking, rather than picking up a specific player, I appreciate if there's been instruction it may take a bit if getting used to but doesn't look like it's working at the moment
