Chris Barber 90. One of the most influential people in the development of rock in his country, starting with him being involved with Lonnie Donegan and Rock Island Line then bringing over the likes of Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Sister Rosette Thorpe and others and helping the blues boom which saw the emergence of the Stones etc. Was still touring up to 2 years ago. RIP

Talking of Chris Barber, I remember watching this programme. Hard to describe how in the days of 2 TV channels, no videos, what a great thrill to see these blues people, who British bands were covering, but who you had heard of or on record but not seen live on stage.

Didn’t realise that until reading you post.
Biggest hit was Mrs Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter, but wrote quite a few other songs that were popular back in the day.
He had a long and distinguished career in the Theatre, film and television.
    Obviously a very talented man.

So all this was his fault! Never got on with cassettes, went from vinyl straight to cd.

Cassette is making a comeback apparently. I'm sure I've still got my old Nakamichi Dragon in the attic.

i know someone who found a load of unwound cassette tape in the street and wondered what was on it, so he took it home and carefully did whatever so he could see what was on it. turned out to be his own band! (this is the story i was told).
