Opposition are second in the League. Way clear of Dortmund who have Haaland smashing in goals left right and centre. 2 points behind Bayern who are favourites for the CL.

Please god we get a dolly of a draw here.

Qfs is not too bad. Its respectable.

Imo what klopp should do is keep same 11 bar maybe keeping jota fit. But we cannot say that pair of CBS are not flaky.

 

Better performance and good to get through. Considering we won't get the likes of Henderson and any of the defenders back, our days are numbered.

 

Good performance, not great though despite some of the commentary saying otherwise. End of the Day 1/4 final for us.

 

Bayern are putting that theory to the test

 

Think Fab offered more protection to the centre backs compared to Thiago.

allowed full backs to push on a bit more.

thiago looks much better player closer to opposition goal despite his poor pass for Salah in first half.

Jota looked lively. I think his bit of extra pace helps as he’s drifts wide and still offers a threat out there which Bobby doesn’t do if he’s wide.

 

Fabinho was the difference in our performance but I'd give MOTM to Phillips. That lad is a proper old school CB, he'd literally head a brick wall!!!

What did you see tonight that was much good?

The lad on their left had a bit of pace but did little to actually play in. The rest of them shrivelled every shot miles over and really they had not got the quality.

No disrespect to us for working a bit harder (which cheapens the diabolical rubbish served in prem) but they were mostly playing via their CB really.

I couldn't care less where they are in the Bundesliga, they lacked quality on the ball and were wide open at the back.

We missed 7 big chances first half. Massive chances and still coughed up pretty poor chances to them.

As for doom and gloom. **** off. You said false dawn yourself.

 

You think Jota is quicker than Bobby? Really not much in it but thought Jota looked slow. Definitely offers more though

 

Good solid performance, could have had a hat full. Not particularly impressed with RBL, that team is fighting for the Bundesliga with Bayern
and we know Munich are an excellent team. Gives us best part of a month to maybe get Hendo back?

Something to put a smile on our faces anyway

 

Called it easy win against Germany’s Leeds United. They were so poor but at least we converted 2 of our gazillion chances.

 

was couple moments in first half where balls into the centre forwards feet opened up chances but anything crossed in and kabak and Phillips dealt with it easily. Phillips won’t be a regular player for us, but as you say he’ll give it his all which is all you can ask. And in certain games where he needs to defend crosses he’ll do a more than solid job. Chases the ball a bit, but of the Lovren about him but don’t wanna judge him too harshly given he is what he is.

Thought kabak was good again today as well. No real issues, looked solid enough. Got some decent tackles in. Few good headers. Maybe having played against them for schalke he felt more comfortable

Think he’s far quicker than Bobby yeah. Plus he’s used to playing wide so when drifts knows the role and can beat a man on the outside which Bobby can’t.

 

Phillips had a great game, especially first half when he was up against a big centre forward which suited him. Midfield looked a lot more balanced and effective with Fabs there. Just hope we avoid Bayern next round.

 

Both did well. Kabak was quietly decent.

Leipzig system played into our hands a bit.

The main thing is things went our way.

 

It's important to bear in mind that Leipzig's style of play suits ours. League form can only count for so much.

 

One performance doesn’t make a team. City looked nothing against united at the weekend but are walking the Prem.

RBL finished above a united in the group who are second in the prem. They beat PSG in their group 2-1....

So how do you judge a team? On the league performances, they’re 2 worse than Bayern (who they drew 3-3 with in the league). Or judge them on the Cl performances which got them out of their group...

 

And city and PSG, and probably chelsea and of course its be best to just avoid real Madrid.maybe

Dortmund are a bit scary going forward but **** at the back.
