After shaky start, very good performance, enjoyable game against a decent side, kept the run going which was so important. Three very good and valuable points. Finishing line getting nearer, important to keep it going. Well done to all the team and piling more pressure on the others.
I agreed with Chazz. Potter has not exactly set the world alight since the contract being signed. I am really pleased for him today and hope that he produces more of the same in the final run in.
A really good game to watch, Oxford played well, particularly in the first 10 - 15 minutes, but after that, we grew into the game and always looked to have the game under control. KLP was brilliant, and unlike Wilk's, who yesterday just seemed to take a touch too many and squandered some good chances, KLP showed what a clinical striker he can be. I wish his dipping shot had gone in, that would have really put the icing on the cake. Coyle has got better and better and I can see now why McCann stuck with him over Emmanuel, and I was pleased to hear his injury is not a serious as it looked. Alfie Jones looks to have grown into this sitting midfield role, and Smallwood if fit, would have a job getting back into the side. If we do get promoted I can see Jones being our go-to man in that position. Finally, credit to McCann, who even though has his weaknesses, has got the team playing with confidence and calmness.
It’s amazing what a couple of important wins can do do for your confidence. Those wins at Pompey and especially the Posh on a ploughed field have suddenly opened the door again. The players will know now it’s all to play for now and without getting carried away recent results suggest they are all up for the challenge.
Really enjoyed yesterday’s game, it’s definitely put us a very good position, Still all to play for and I fully expect Peterborough to beat Portsmouth on Tuesday which would bring them back within 3 points of us with a couple of games in hand. However it’s all about us, great credit to the team who have got us back at the summit. Now we have to continue on this winning run going into the last ten games, I know it’s difficult to say but 5/6 wins will have you around the top two I would imagine but take one game at a time because they are all cup finals when you are top going into the run in.
He's an engaging, honest manager... I always thought that one day he'd end up here... excellent result yesterday. Things in our favour, less games to play (catching up), seemingly a full fit squad (McLoughlin and Clark apart?) and drier pitches, that may sound daft, but this team play football... its in our hands...
Interesting fixtures coming up. Lincoln losing whilst being a coupon wrecker was like giving us another 3 points.
Fair play to the reporter on Quest for shoehorning a dozen or more Harry Potter references into his commentary. no it wasn’t really.
Don't you start, just watched the Quest piece on us and the daft c**t kept going on about Harry Potter. He's KLP, he's one of our own, he's not Harry f**King Potter.
I was similarly upbeat after that win at Pompey - and then we went on a terrible run over the next eight games. (Yes, we've played 13 games since that win - where does the time go?) Let's hope the momentum and confidence are maintained this time.
Anyone interested in how the Oxford fans saw the game. Some decent posters on there. Giving us credit. https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/13-03-2021-l1-hull-city-v-oufc.5062/page-31
