I was quite happy with one point maintaining the status quo considering our nearest rivals were 2-0 up at the bottom club.
Well that was a horrible game against a niggly team, and given other results no harm done. But still - starting without a proper CF again backfired. And also it worries me how McCann's anger with the ref seems to translate to frustration on the pitch from the team, rather like the Donny game. He himself said calmness would be needed to get promotion and I didn't think we showed much today. And the pressure will intensify as we get closer to end of season so need to address that. I think Wilks released the ball quickly once all afternoon, to Crowley with about 20 mins to go, and we nearly scored. But he just doesn't seem to learn.
The way the results panned out wasn't too bad in the end, and could have been even better if Dale hadn't let in that last minute equaliser. But a tepid error-strewn performance in a match the referee failed to get hold of. They should have had at least one man sent off for persistent fouling. I thought the referee was shocking, actually.
It was odd not starting with Maggenis, we must have known they were going to try to kick us off the park
But it's not just the lack of Magennis (although I agree that's a big mistake if he's fit enough). Starting with Whyte seems to force both KLP and Wilks out of their favourite positions.
Given the predicament we were in at 1-0 down and other teams winning I think it's a result...What did you think?
Sort of agree, but am I the only one thinking given the other results, frustrating two points dropped, chance to have stamped authority & widen the gap at the top. (I know, another woman never happy!) Not saying we deserved a win, not a great spectacle, stupid back heel to give free kick, even that was taken in wrong place, should have been further forward giving less room to get over the wall. A physical game, hopefully we come through unscathed, another point on board, another game crossed off, onwards & upwards. UTT.
Not sure if their pitch is normally that thin, but there looked to be a lot of space outside the pitch on the wings, never seen as disjointed a game as that, hardly worth watching foul after foul after foul.
Agree. That ref had a shocker and Shrewsbury were kicking every thing above grass. and getting away with it. We'd have filled that away end too.
Probably force is the wrong word. As is favourite. But I'm sure at one stage, unless my old eyes deceived me, McCann had Wilks on the left and KLP central, whereas both are in my view more effective on the right and left respectively (with Magennis in the middle, ideally).
The ref was awful fouls against us unpunished and coyle and honeyman diving to the floor gets a free kick.
Same ref that Warnock recently went apoplectic about (although that's not a rarity). https://talksport.com/football/efl/844996/neil-warnock-fumes-referee-middlesbrough-booked-protests/
I felt like that at the end of the game Tigress however at one point it looked has though both Peterborough and Sunderland were on course for 3 points so they will be even more frustrated than us. At least things have stayed the same, it’s another game played, we got a decent point from a poor performance so let’s just hope we get back to winning ways next week.
