Initially I thought not, but the replays look like, within the laws, Red. Obviously not malicious though.

Try England. Come on.

 

That is the worst red card I’ve seen. Both his arms are below shoulder high. Vinapoula is crouched and he drives his head into Bundees shoulder.

This is becoming ridiculous

 

He has history for this, but these red cards are looking harsh.
However, within the new guidelines I think it was a red.

1. there was no intent.
2. He did not lead with his shoulder
3. Both his arms wrap around the player below shoulder high (and he was dipped)
4. The players head was dipped and well below normal shoulder height
5. The defending player was almost static

watch it again. Aki does not lead or tilt his shoulder. Vinapoula lowers and drives into his head into an almost static Aki

Wonder how Eddie will bluff his way out of this tournament. One good performance out of five (can’t count Italy, sadly, any more). Still appalling discipline and zero leadership on the pitch.

Ireland have been very impressive today in contrast, calm and in control.

Ireland have been poor too for much of this tournament. In transition.

 

Yeah, we knew that coming into the tournament though. England have gone backwards, definitively, Ireland and Farrell A are learning and building. The way it’s panned out to give Wales the chance of the Slam is bizarre, it’s been the poorest quality tournament I can remember. Though France look like a genuinely exciting prospect and hopefully they will drag the rest in the same direction.

Now I have to watch the game in Paris with the the Welsh element of my household outnumbering me.....
