Tbf I am NOT a McCann fan .. I think he lacks in many areas to be truly successful and has been out thought by many of his contemporaries not only last season but this season as well. But to allow your coach to leave with just a minimal number of games left would definitely cause disruption to the squad and upset the balance. Am I happy to risk that given where we sit currently ? No !
Don’t see it happening but yer never know in football these days . The fact it’s up for discussion is further proof McCann has never really been forgiven for last seasons train wreck and he always seems to be one defeat away from further abuse. For what it’s worth McCann still has to prove he is a Championship manager but credit to the bloke for getting us into a position where he may well get a second chance.
Can't see why McCann would want to go to Preston now. We're odds on to go up, which will do his reputation no harm, and if he believes he can manage in the Championship then doing it with us and a team he has put together has to be his best shot.
A billionaire owner who might be better to work with than ours? Fans and owners pulling in the same direction? Questions, not definitive answers.
I'm hoping that's the case too. Shame though he will have simply righted his wrongs of last season and got us back to square one from when he joined.
I was as gutted as the next man at last year's events and like most I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. That said, and there's no doubt that Grant McCann has to shoulder some of that blame,I'm glad we stripped out the dead wood who also contributed to our downfall. McCann has put together a group of players this season who show a lot more desire, footballing skills and team spirit than last year's spineless bunch and if we go up(as I expect and hopefully as Champions),my opinion is we will be in a better place and with one of two tweaks and additions should fare well.
