Really good game, it was a pity they couldn't quite do it, which would have been a fitting reward for Curran's efforts.

What to do about Sam Curran.....in all formats.....in white ball, I think his batting is more suited to ODI, crafting a longer innings at 110-120 SR seems more his bag than 40 off 20, his bowling though....not sure it's that brilliant in either format, certainly in the recent T20Is he barely bowled a ball...he's certainly not as good as Woakes with the ball in ODIs, and Woakes' batting certainly is more than good enough for someone coming in at #8

As for red ball cricket.....it's been 3 years since his debut and there were hopes he'd add a yard of pace as he got older, that doesn't seem to have happened so far, and 3 years in his batting and bowling aves are both similar (if not as good) as Woakes', I'm a huge fan of the variation that he provides, but there comes a time when you've gotta ask if he's not turned into the player we'd hoped

I just went onto Youtube and saw a stream for the first county championship game of the season, Yorks V Glamorgan. There was no mention of teams on the graphics, but the batsman at the crease was Root, and the score was 113/5. It took me a few minutes to realise that Glamorgan were batting, and it was Joe's brother at the crease.

Far too cold for cricket! I remember back in the early games fielding in April, occasionally between snow showers. Hands were softened as they hadnt had the pounding over winter and bloody freezing. You'd hope it would somehow avoid you.

I wondered how his career would pan out when he was the golden boy following his initial impact, mainly for his batting. He'd always have Stokes ahead of him as a true allrounder. Because of his size, would he ever develop sufficiently as a bowler who can bat? As a bat, on occasions he times the ball beautifully, but maybe not often enough to become a batsman who can bowl. For me, although Woakes had a miserable winter (through no fault of his own), he is well ahead of Curran. He was our test player of the season before then, and I suspect his average has massively improved. He does offer that variation, but for me, I suspect he is destined to always be a good squad player for if conditions suit (or if Stokes or Woakes are injured)/
Regards the one day game he probably has more chance of establishing himself. One bowler looks a dead cert but then gets hammered so difficult to call,

When I went to bed it was 113/5, checking this morning things looked a lot different. Glamorgan 310-8 (96 overs): Van der Gugten 80*, Douthwaite 57, Carlson 55.

    Rather let it slip.

A quick look at Billy and Joe batting and it's easy to spot which Root is at the crease. Billy is left handed.

That's what made me realise it was him. The first over I say he was at the non batting end, so I could see the name Root on his back. It wasn't until the next over when he took guard that I realied it was his brother.

    Snow stopped play at Headingley.

More support for Mr D. Trump's assertion that global warming is a myth.

I've tuned in to you tube quite regularly to watch. It looked like it was going to be a close finish, but I never saw the climax. Its the second time in our history we've won by a solitary run.
That's two games on the trot we've come back from first innings deficits. Just need to get our batting going now. I think Rooty is playing next two games.

Anyone on here now, watch a Joe Root masterclass developing, live.
    Yorkshire vs Kent

Addendum.. dont bother, he's out. Seemed to be making things look very easy while he was there

At least he got his century, Adam Lyth batted well and got runs in both innings, unlucky not to get 2 centuries.

He was out in the 40's, after making it look very easy. Lythe was out cheaply too. You must be looking at the wrong game.
It is great having the County Championship on You tube. Its not test cricket and obviously no crowds, but I enjoy just dipping into it for the odd half hour.

I was looking at this score card, I assumed it was the same game.
