I was under the impression that the longer runway would allow planes such as the A320, but could be wrong on that. For me it would be a lost opportunity for the region, in terms of creating jobs on site and for off site businesses associated with the airport.
Just found this. You are correct, if I read this correctly. 27: How does adding just 164m to the runway allow the airport to increase its passenger numbers? A: This additional distance will allow the existing aircraft like the A320 to carry more fuel, operate year round and reach further destinations whilst still being able to carry a full passenger load. Allowing larger aircraft to economically operate more routes allows passenger numbers to substantially grow without the equivalent growth in aircraft movements – a more efficient operation. Just looked at the map. Presumably the 164m would have to be at the northern end, as the southern end is already close to the M27. Doesn’t that mean it would be a bit too close to the railway sidings?
I think the extension pretty much goes up to the border, but I don’t think (might have missed it if it has) that the proximity to the railway sidings has been raised as a concern.
A link to a petition against the anti protest laws. Probably won’t make any difference but I signed it anyway. Just a thought but what is to stop someone, living near a football ground, when crowds return, complaining about the noise from the football stadium and asking the police to disperse the crowd as they find the noise annoying? Not a protesting crowd, but hey, annoyance is annoyance. https://secure.greenpeace.org.uk/pa...F_CCQ97s8zpiWlIGsK8kywiDQ5t2eTClmlY8Be7lDtsXs
Thanks for posting, I support Greenpeace so I already signed this. I meant to share it here but forgot!
The Express are running an online survey to find out what people think about the E.U./Brexit. You get the chance to support the EU, although I expect most of their readers won’t. I’ve done it 5 times so far. https://data.reachplc.com/210825131...KZaohiflzQ04YkUeTZksaUSyjxBthQ-KdeIvKTUjnvUos
I'm sure some will accuse me of deliberate ignorance or lighting the touch paper I think I've also had, but how is the British Gas thing related to brexit, I cant work it out. I've disliked BG for a while, this gives me another reason to dislike them, but didnt understand the Brexit link.
Yeah wondered that, but I thought there were lots of EU rules that many countries didnt follow to the letter of the law. Anyhow, not going to drag it on, just wondered.
If Farage merits a milkshake, what on earth awaits Johnson, Mogg and Patel? As it can't be anything that harms the environment, maybe dog excrement!!!
On the Andrew Marr show, Sunday, he showed the front page of every newspaper, most of which were, in some way, praising the government. Well, when I say ALL the newspapers, he kept the Sunday Mirror hidden beneath the Telegraph and didn’t show it, presumably because it led with the Jennifer Arcuri exclusive about her affair with Johnson. And to think that there are some people who still think that the BBC isn’t biased towards the government and still trot out that old cliche about the BBC being full of lefties.
