I agree Walsh maybe injured perhaps? I agree about Bell, hopefully we will learn more about him than when he is pushed on when we are chasing the game.
Hopefully it’s just that he’s been out injured a long time , played 90 mins last time so Nige thought it best to give him a rest. Maybe he’ll start next game.
Hope today's watch is better. I sometimes wonder why I put myself through it. Bored rigid these days with watching passes across the box. Not just City either, bored rigid for long periods watching England this week.
Rp agree todays football is all about possession can be very boring, across back forward back outside the opposition penalty area next thing its back to the keeper, take me back to the 70s when football was entertaining.
Slow predictable and weak so far. Lansbury is shocking, Hunt little better. Rowe, Mariappa and Kalas never covered themselves in glory for their goal. Our crossing/final ball is appalling.
Gone from playing across the back to I'm not entirely sure, other than trying to get the ball forward earlier, but aimless. Seems he's just moving deckchairs around. So little quality. 2nd half can't be worse
So that was a dreadful 1st half, just can’t move forward and keep possession, oh for an Andi Weimann!
Our 'decent' squad prove once more they are not even close to 'decent'. Hunt is so poor. Mariappa cannot understand how gets in ahead of Vyner. Rowe has been ok, but most of the danger coming from his flank. Massengo 1 great pass but little else. Lansbury I cannot understand how he gets into the team, he is awful and preventing Palmer from playing down the middle. Semenyo frustrating in and out of the game, snatched at a great chance from Massengo's great goal. When you realise that Stoke a physical team haven't won away from since December this had home defeat written all over it. Can't play any worse, but I expect we will try.
If ever Pearson needed to see what players need shifting today was yet another one. Bentley 6 No chance with the goals, little else to do. Hunt 2 Just shocking again. Mariappa 4 I say again I cannot see how he gets in ahead of the more athletic Vyner. Kalas 6 Looked ok. Rowe 5 Ok but too much danger coming down his flank. Palmer 5 Pick of a crappy midfield, should playing in central midfield. Lansbury 1 The worst signing since Diony. Massengo 4 Far to weak in an incredibly weak midfield, not his fault. Semenyo 3 Evidence that he is nowhere close to being the finished article. Wells 5 Cannot argue with the effort but the supply to him was as bad as ever. Bakinson 5 Ok but another not strong enough in a very weak midfield. This midfield yet again was piss weak against a physical team who couldn't buy an away win. Another shocking home performance, where we created one chance that Semenyo snatched at, apart from that we never looked like scoring. Start the cull early Nige too many in this crappy squad robbing a living. And sort this slow, weak and predictable midfield out as a priority.
I just wonder what might be going through Nigel Pearson's head right now when he sees such a bunch of losers trying to prove their worth? How is it we have ended up with this lot when the club has said many times that this is the season when we will be a contender and yet here we go again on the rebuild train? I have said many times that it's a wonder any decent footballer would want to boost their career by joining Bristol City and perhaps this current squad reflects that sad comment. Should Pearson decide to stay I think he can provide a better slant on where the real problem lies and a higher knowledge on how the deficiencies can be addressed but if all he sees is future mediocrity then he could very well do the Steve Coppell walk. I really think the end of this season could be a watershed moment for Bristol City and the next turn in the saga will prove what we are really made of when it comes to the crunch.
Defo no magic wand.. players are capable when they want to, as proven v Bham & Swansea & Boro.. The season has been over for a while, NP should know by now what is required for next season.. interesting how it will go..
7 games to go, massive clearout going to happen, team spirit must be sagging, the quicker Nige is appointed and confirmed accepted we can all move on, get rid of the dross, they are getting top dollar and pissing about.
