Not for me mate, otherwise all you get is the result. Then you wait for the end of the next match, then the next.

To me the football is the enjoyment, not just the final whistle.

I enjoy the anticipation, the game and the result if it's the right one.

I get that it's a risk, having that hope, but that's what makes it exciting.

I think Philips, having seen his coaching career go down the pan, is now attempting to tap into the "controversial pundit" market by coming up with divisive comments whether on TV or in the media. Shame really as he's tarnishing his reputation with Sunderland fans with his constant sound bites

I see people saying they're concerned that if we go up we'll have to improve the squad, spend money, etc.

To me that's a bit daft because if we improve, and challenge for promotion, they'll have the same concerns about the PL.

Football is supposed to be an entertainment, I'm not concerned about Charlton, Hull or Blackpool ...

.... just really looking forward to the games.

You get most things football wise right , but I dont think Posh fell short, they sat back first half and tried to catch us on the break, using any tactic they could, and the first half was a tactical victory for them. Both teams could have scored first half, but our keeper was the busier of the two. Second half Posh made the changes first and grabbed the initiative, looking dangerous down their right against our left and deservedly took the lead. Only after our belated substitutions did we start to look dangerous equalising and almost snatching the winner. I said before the game on this thread that I would be happy with a point and I still am. And I actually think LJ went for a win but he initially got a couple of things wrong, but picking two up front was not one of them imo, this to me showed he was looking to win the game, the problem first half was we were not getting enough crosses in from out wide to cause them any problems, and when we did our front two were nullified especially by Beevers who won everything in the air all day..

Gotta say, I think it's a fair comment personally. Not often you see free kicks go in when they're placed that centrally. Keeper will be disappointed, got his starting position all wrong imo.

Not that I'm complaining ha, but harsh to call SKP out for it, he has to be seen to be relatively impartial.

O/9 in real time it worried me, but replay showed the ref got it right.

If you look at the kick, from behind the goal on 40 seconds, you can see the keeper is almost central.

What beats him is the height of the ball, not the placement, but it's certainly not central.

McGeady didn't float it, the ball was flying, and he's just as capable as knocking it to the other side ...

... so I just don't see how the keeper can blame himself.

If the keeper had gone with his "wrong" hand, ie, his right, he saves that. (Tony Norman springs to mind).
It looked like he was keeping this right arm tight to him, even mid flight.....he definately looked in pain on that side.
As you say though, it was the height and pace of the ball, keeper had no chance of reaching that with his left hand.

He was obviously coaxing McGeady into going for that side and he obliged ...

... as the comment with the video says.

"McGeady cancelled out Siriki Dembele’s opener to earn the Black Cats a 1-1 draw with a stunning 81st-minute free-kick."

Very unfair. He seems to call out SKP a lot for some reason.

You call out Lee Johnson every week, I'm sure you think that's justified.

Phillips continually says things which aren't just unbiased, some are idiotic like his comments on James Young.

“Will it really make a big difference? Let’s be honest, it is just someone sitting on the computer every day.

“From my experience, these people can come in and confuse things. It is another opinion added into the mix."

It's comments like these that probably explain why Phillips can't get a proper job in the modern game.

It makes him look bitter and out of touch, which I believe he is.

I feel like we were the better side first half, having a few early efforts and dominating the midfield battle, winning the ball back quickly and having good spells of possession. Jones was a threat as well, Posh and Oxford both having to resort to fouling to stop him. He seemed to tire quickly in this one, a culmination of just playing Friday and coming back from an injury.

Later in the half they did look to play forwards more, Mcfadzean inparticular getting caught horribly out of position as Szmodics crossed.

Second half they seemed to win the ball back quickly from us and we struggled to get our passing going. They scored a goal, which I guess theres an argument for Mcfadzean being fouled, not quite strong enough for me in that one, then with everyone having shuffled one position left to cover it allowed Dembele the space. Hs done okay recently but as with Oxford sides target him. They had a couple of more opportunities, Burge making a good save down low from Szmodics and it began to look like we may get beat. But then, a moment of quality from Mcgeady. They had a warning earlier with the freekick that hit the side netting but this time it sailed in. Again, goals change games and for me we looked the more assertive after that. A stroke of good fortune for them as the two CBs sliced at a clearance (they were terrific other than that) only for the ball to ricochet off the outside of the post with the injured keeper stranded.

Overall, both teams had spells where they were the better side so a point each is probably most just. A visit to the side with the best home record and we come away having extended our unbeaten run and very much in the mix.

Mom for us - Luke O'nien
Mom for them - Mark Beevers

I know I'm going to get stick for this but I think it'll be play offs for us. There's too many uncanny similarities with the first "Ross" season. EFL trophy final followed by Accrington the next game after. Playing Peterborough away Easter Monday and getting a 1-1 draw. Never quite getting into the top 2 and establishing ourselves there. Hoping that teams above us slip up while they get last minute deflating winners like Posh and Hull did the other day and as Luton and Barnsley would do that season.
Hope I'm ****ing wrong like, obviously.

Having watched the highlights, how did the lad who karate kicked O’Nien not get any punishment. Karate kick after the ball had gone in the stomach? Ferguson
Pints at the ref for an apparent penalty. Johnson says nothing about the ref! Classy bloke

Pym is a good keeper but his lack of height makes him vulnerable at free kicks ....

.... McGeady is experienced enough to know it doesn't need to go right in the corner.

Oh yeah, and on the video you can see him suck his forefinger and hold it up to the wind <laugh>
