So, according to Posh, they have played all season with a sub-standard keeper on their bench. They haven't developed him at all during the season. On top of this, during the period that Pym was clearly injured, they kept him on the pitch for another 15 minutes rather than take him off and minimise muscle damage by treating it as soon as possible. My thoughts exactly. Anyone who thinks this is a bit far fetched should read this from the BBC article announcing the emergency loan keeper; "It's a big blow," said Ferguson. "The boy has been very consistent over the last two seasons, but we have got to get on with it." "He did ever so well to finish the game against Sunderland. He was struggling and when you see the extent of the injury you can see why." 'Posh boss Darren Ferguson said: "We had to think fast. We have a list of keepers in case of something like this happening. He was the one we wanted. It's a good signing to make at such short notice." ' If they keep a list of preferred emergency loan keepers, they have certainly thought out the technicalities of how few appearances their reserve keepers needed to have made. What gets me riled up though is that Posh have deliberately held back on developing the career opportunities of their reserve keepers so that they can parachute in a much better keeper if their first choice got injured. On top of that, they kept a struggling, injured, in pain keeper on the pitch rather than sub him, just so they can stick to their emergency loan plan. I can get the 'ooh, aren’t we making clever use of the rules to give us an advantage' aspect of this, but it shows the club have stinted on their playing squad in this position in order to spend elsewhere. A sign of the damage badly thought through salary cap and squad size rules can inflict.
Now that HRH prince Philip has passed away, wonder if it means Peterborough will be in for an emergency striker.
Thus us utterly disgraceful mind. So they had a keeper carrying an injury and didn’t sub him, despite having sub available, so they could sign another keeper? Great to see that Ferguson has the welfare of his players at heart! If I was playing fir them, this would massively make me question him as a man manager
Showing yourself up for exactly what you are then! They’re not cheating at all. Just using the rules available to them.
Make as many excuses for Pboro as you like. I am a Sunderland fan and this whole scenario has been a disgrace. They have been allowed to gain an unfair advantage
Sorry fir quoting again but just looked this up. Technically not. He’s actually played in 4 efl games. The rule is 5 pl or efl league fixtures. So that might make it even funnier in that Ferguson misunderstood the loophole and he didn’t make the sub thinking he wouldn’t be able to loan a player!
They haven’t cheated though. You said categorically that they had. If you are not breaking rules, you are not cheating. It doesn’t seem right but it isn’t cheating. It’s using the rules to your advantage. I’d hope we could do exactly the same
LJ just commented on the emergency loan situation... says they clearly haven't been weakened. Says he'd be really disappointed if they've been allowed to wiggle around the rules. But that he trusts the EFL and the process. But at the end of the day says there's nothing he can do about it.
Lets just hope we go up fair and square Fun fact. Peterborough was again voted "worst place to live in England" for the third year running.
Like everyone else he knows what has gone on there is not right. Its a disgrace they have basically been allowed to bring in a keeper when they have two at the club. If Burge got injured we would have to play Matthews. Thats how it works. Its called having a squad Whole thing is a disgrace and in my opinion a form of cheating
Yeah just watching that. Their Keeping coach is a registered player and comfortably has more than 5 league appearances. Now, if this is the case, then surely it’s against the rules. Anyhow, I like his answer in that it’s not his issue mind. Up to now, he’s certainly not one for excuses
Well its not in the rules how they have got him. I will say the same to you if he plays a key role in these last 8 games to take them up Sure you will just shrug it off
