Adkins looks after his former clubs. Remember debuting Long against Sheff United to give them the win? He'll play the kids final day of the season.
Cannot see that but the timing of the fixture will have a huge bearing on team selection. If Charlton are safely in a Play Off place then he might rest his better players, if they need points for an automatic place, unlikely but you never know, he obviously won't. Same with City, we might already be promoted by the time this game comes along. The result might not be that important if we have already been crowned as Champions.
I wasn't being entirely serious, thus the emoji, but yes final day of the season is the best time to play them unless they're right on the cusp. I would be shocked if that game matters for us though.
I'm the same. We haven't stumbled like teams of the past might have. We've dropped points in a few game but no one's perfect. I see no signs of nerves in this side.
It's going to go to the final game of the season and we win the title in the 93rd minute with a goal from Jacob greaves! He's been building up to all season!
Imo if they are well sorted for the playoffs he may well rest some senior players in case of injury etc, get ready for the playoff games but if they need the points it will be a full strength charlton team..
There's a small chance it could DMD but we've had a pretty remarkable run of results in the last 10 games.Winning 5 on the trot then 2 draws when you start to think hmmm 'hang on a minute, are we starting to falter a wee bit here, please no'...All of a sudden we win our next 3 games and the team looks up for this and they're not showing too much in the way of nerves etc. These lads look like they're up for this, winning has created a massive boost in confidence and they really look as if they're enjoying their football...Young covid immune Chazz sums it up best when he states, "well oiled machine" Try saying that while munching on a Chazzwich..!!
If we beat Fleetwood next Saturday (we should) and Sunderland drop any points in their next two games away to Wigan and Blackpool (very likely), then a week on Tuesday a win against them seals promotion. It's touching distance, what can possibly go wrong? Edit Actually my maths is wrong, but it sounds good. Put another way, promotion is still in Sunlan's hands
We'd have an 11 point lead with them having 4 games to go, they would have to win out to deny us and us lose out. So essentially done.
As I read it, they have to win three more games than we do before the end of the season to stop us going up automatically, and Peterborough have to win two more games than we do, to stop us going up as Champions. Then again, I'm probably wrong, I usually am.
That sounds reassuring. The odds of both of them happening incredibly low, in fact 'more chance of platting fog' as my first boss use to say. No idea what he was talking about. Whatever the outcome, I bet we don't have a victory parade, ending the day with you drunkenly nattering with Grant McCann outside City Hall (which I observed you doing with Pete Taylor from The Punch)...more chance of platting fog.
