One thing this last 10 days has taught me is dont count your Chickens before they hatch. I like many other fans thought that we'd nailed promotion this season. After having promotion in our hands this past 10 days couldnt have been any worse. Losing Sanderson is a huge blow to our playoff hopes. He's in our top 3 best players, and i really dont know where we go from here now. Losing him wont just weaken the team itll have a huge psychological impact on our players knowing we've lost such an important player...... Gutted.
In a really strange way this feels less disastrous than if we had won the last 2 games. As it would have been momentum shifting and felt like we might blow it. Now it feels like we were already undedogs and have to fight. Dare I say in a strange sort of way this might help re-galvanise the players?
I have to agree with this... Although it was a nice feeling, looking like we could end up walking into a top 2 spot after winning the cup - my gut said that complacency would be dangerous and I'd prefer us to be still chasing with a few games to go. People are looking at Peterborough and Hull thinking it's all over.. but the pressure is well and truly back on them if we get a win at the weekend.. or even more dangerous for Peterborough is us winning, and them thinking that they've done it and taking the foot off the pedal.
I always said best time to get into the top 2 was last 2 weeks of the season. Hopefully Peterborough lose their arse.
That spear tackle landing won't have helped on Tuesday night, gutted for the lad, he's come to Sunderland and given us everything, we owe wolves our gratitude for that, I expect he'll go back there for his rehabilitation, so good luck to the lad for the future, I doubt we'll get him back again, plenty of clubs will have noticed him this season, so if Wolves don't keep him I expect he'll go to prem/champ club. Cheers Dion.
I agree. Younger has not let the side down at all in his appearances this season. Stick him in alongside Wright and get O'Nien back in the middle of the park where we are weakest.
Only chance would be if we got promoted. He'll be playing in a higher league than our current one next season, that's for sure.
Terrible news, but time for someone to step up. I have to believe someone will step up and fill his shoes
Haven't seen anything on SAFC.com. Wonder if this is just rumours and may explain the other nights performance. Something's gone on behind closed doors and maybe Sanderson had just said sod it, my backs knackered
