Good Morning. It's Monday 19th April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds join race to sign Ajax star

Leeds have joined the race to sign Ajax left back Nicolas Tagliafico this Summer. Although the 28yo has two years left on his contract, he has an agreement with the Ajax hierarchy that he can leave when the season comes to an end. According to the Sun, Tagliafico could be available for as little as 17.5m

The Argentine was linked with moves to Manchester City, Chelsea and Spurs last Summer, but the pandemic put pay to a move to the Premiership. Recently, reports suggest Inter Milan are interested in him. but the Italian club’s financial issues will restrict them in the transfer market.

He is renowned for his "lung-busting stamina, excellent technique and continuous enterprise" according to his Wiki page, but is he better than Brest full-back Romain Perraud?

    Who would you rather have?

    Bielsa wants Ryan Kent

Media reports are suggesting that Marcelo Bielsa has told Victor Orta to sign Rangers winger Ryan Kent this Summer. The Argentine has been tracking the 24yo for the last few seasons, watching his price tag accelerate through the roof since his 6.5m move from Anfield. Leeds are likely to offer the Scottish Champions 15m for Kent's signature, but will that be enough?

Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae believes the West Yorkshire side are poles part with their valuation:-

“I would say 25 plus. Without a doubt. The modern day player? You have a guy who is 24 who has all of his best years ahead of him.”

Should Leeds sign Kent, it would almost certainly spell the end for Helder Costa. The 27yo has found it difficult to replicate his Wolves form, since his arrival at Elland Road in the Summer of 2019. Leeds are likely to accept a cut price fee in the region of 7.5m.

Alioski is like a kid who has had too much suger - Bamford

In a recent interview with YouTube channel 'UMM', Patrick Bamford has likened team mate Ezgjan Alioski, to a ‘like a kid who has had too much sugar’!

The cheeky North Macedonian has quite the reputation of winding up his team mates on a daily basis but his heart is in the right place.

    Leeds No 9 stated:-

“I cannot even put into words what he’s like,” said Bamford. “He’s like a kid, who has had too much sugar all the time. “He is completely hyped. When we got promoted, we went on holiday, the boys and everyone took their missus.

“I thought ‘Oh, when he’s with his missus, he will be a little bit more calm’. Exactly the same. And the worse thing is that she’s kind of on his level. “Really good fun. But he’s a nutter.”

    Morning all...

Every transfer window and Ryan Kent seems to be top of Bielsas shopping list, either that or it’s just lazy journalism. I’d take him if we can move Costa on, the Ajax LB player I can’t see happening but who knows. As for which one would I prefer, I wouldn’t mind either.

    Morning all,

If Costa moves on then Kent is a good replacement. My argument would be though that Costa has had a reasonable season, a slight dip in the middle of course. Is Kent that much better than Costa that he is worth the money it would take to bring him in? Could we see an improvement in Costa after a full season under Bielsa in the Prem? Most of our players improve year on year under Bielsa.

As for the left back we are linked with. I started to read the article over the weekend but stopped when I saw he was Argentinian. I cannot get past the thought that it is lazy journalism to link an half decent Argentinian player with Leeds at the moment.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Ryan Kent will always be mentioned by lazy journos but the quoted £15m offer is a joke as our 2nd offer last Summer was £12m. Rangers said back then it would need £20m for them to consider it. The problem with journos is that Bielsa did say he liked Kent but that was then and before the £20m quote because we didnt go back so why would we now. We asked about Buendia and they quoted £25m so we didnt ask again, so when journos now talk about Bielsa going back for Buendia this Summer forget it especially as they are now asking for £35m and have been promoted so will need him. Its because he is Arentinian speaking of which.....

Nicolas Taglioficais Argentinian and has been linked, but the difference is that Tagliofica mentioned Bielsa last Summer in an interview and think it was Alan Nixon in January who said it was well known Bielsa was an admirer because of his pace and power. Tagliofica is known as the Beast because of his all action game. High energy player so typical Bielsaball player. Romain Perraude is not as good as Tagliofica but is younger and could beime as good, but the quoted prices are similar. Tagliofica has 28 caps and has also played International footy at all age levels for Argentina. Think Alioski with more pace then add in a tough Batty like tackler who creates goals too? Nixon said he knew Bielsa was a fan when it became known Pep wanted him at City but knew Bielsa couldnt afford him. Lots of clubs need the cash and so his price has dropped, but City dropped out last Summer because he was quoted at £35m and due to the pandemic Pep brought in a Spanish kid who plays regular now. It could happenbut only if Tagliofica wants to play for Bielsa and will wait to play European Cups?

    Good morning all.

Difficult to get excited over anything this morning as there's only one way footballs going at the moment, and it seems inevitable that in 20 years we'll see the JP Morgan Red Devils v AIA Hotspur playing games on tour around Asia.

All this talk of transfers is irrelevant until the breakaway is sorted in any case.

It's all down to how the fans from those, ahem, 'big six' react.

Back in the day there was a breakaway England cricket team and it caused a big crack but also changed the game as we knew it. One day cricket was born and gradually the crack repaired as the rebels were accepted back.

In football it wont be easy because of player contracts. Imagine that if players at say Spurs realise fans hate them, they will nit be allowed to play for their country etc, they are able to walk away from their club contracts due to breach of contract and also their club has restricted their earnings capacity. Trade restriction is a human right under UN law.

This is a bag of shyt which was never going to fly

It's bad enough with var sterilising the game, but if and when this Euro League happens it'll ruin the game IMO even further. It's just a bunch of greedy mercenaries. <grr>

If it happened it would be win win win for everyone else...

Scenario one: It is permitted, clubs are also permitted to remain in their respective leagues, how would the so called "big six" compete domestically when they have to play one of the super leagues matches midweek? They would be excluded from the Champions league meaning more places for the rest, their Super League would be a micky mouse competition just like the European Super Cup, very little interest, games would become like friendlies playing for nothing more than money and the money would only come from gate receipts and sponsors. Sky couldn't plough millions in, they would only have viewing figures matched by the viewing demand of six clubs in this country

Scenario two: EUFA enforce that all clubs lose their place in their respective leagues, they also enforce players are not to be eligible for internationals. How would the six clubs win any rounds of voting, the entire country is against it, this is such a dead fish that isn't going to happen and a play by a few teams to get a larger share of the money pot. I don't understand either how Spurs are in the mix but that's another argument I guess. If scenario two does happen then the six English teams would not survive, they would come running back and when they do say yes you're welcome back but you need to apply and you'll be starting in the non league with the rest.

I also agree with Neville, surely some rules have been broken signing up to something outside of the current agreements in place, hit the six of them with fines and points deduction, stamp it out, ban all six from next seasons Champions league now and let's see where they go from there.

Apparently B.Munich and B.Dortmund have put out a statement saying that they won't be joining any Super League.

I know where you're coming from but my worry is with the money they're getting playing midweek games won't matter. Man City can buy 40 of the best players in the world and if we produce any players that can compete with them they'll just buy them as well.

Scenario 1 cannot be permitted to happen. The financial chasm between those "big 6" clubs and the rest will vastly increase meaning either their reserves would wipe the floor with the rest of the Prem or they simply can't be bothered as there's no incentive to do well in their own leagues anymore. Eventually they will withdraw from their own leagues as the "Super League" gains in importance. They won't give a **** about their own fans as they scramble for foreign money (the potential money from overseas TV markets would be huge) and play games in Dubai, Hong Kong etc. They will become global franchises, the meaning of the city in their names will become irrelevant.

So Uefu and the FA need to hit them and hit them hard. They've broken the rules, so points docked and massive fines are the only thing that will make them take notice.

They wont care about fans because Agneli has said in an interview this morning that “Legacy Fans” will get on board or go elsewhere. This about future football fans who may come from London but support Juventus or from Singapore and support Chelsea. These people are out of their minds and have no idea what we legacy fans want. We want fairness, level playing field, the chance to earn promotion, win a cup, be relegated...... these greedy prats want to buy a seat at the table and never have to leave the table and stop anyone else joining them

According to talksport this morning a specific rule has been broken by the six teams. You are not allowed to sign up for a new competition during a season.

The prem need to punish them and make an example.

Big chance for the FA to clean the game up, get rid of chavvy spivs they call themselves agents to start with, hammer the big 6 they want to call themselves (Arsenal and Spurs, don’t think so) with hefty fines and points deductions so qualification to CL is impossibile next season, but there again the FA to stamp there authority on the game !!!!! not a chance.

I think it would depend on scenario one or two to be honest, either way would players accept not playing in the recognised champions league?
