Nope, the sanction will be expulsion for breaking the rules of membership. Carried by the minimum majority required by the PL of 14. If there was any potential legal ambiguity within the 20/21 rules, they’d just amend them, carried by that majority for 21/22 season. The end.

    I quote Richard Masters:

“I cannot envisage any scenario where such permission would be granted. We call upon any club contemplating associating themselves or joining this venture to walk away immediately before irreparable damage is done.”

there's not one solitary club that wants to have to contemplate that vote.

The grandstanding needs to shift to negotiation

The Premier League will hold a meeting with 14 clubs on Tuesday morning to discuss the European Super League - #LFC, #MUFC, #MCFC, #AFC, #CFC and #THFC are not included.

    No it really doesn’t

It needs the clubs who’ve come up with this wretched piece of **** idea, to back down.

They’ve crossed a line here, and enough is enough, bin it or take what’s coming, it’s on you, is exactly the right message and one they shouldn’t deviate from.

This is what drives the city. Opportunities to increase the tv subscription prices to countries all over the world.

It's a good point because, thinking back to 1992, how many turned their backs on the Prem, Championship, Leagues? Not many. It became a mission to win it and for us a goal we had to aspire to because it seemed everyone else had won it (even Blackburn and Leeds) except us. More importantly, it's domestic. This is different, however. No competition in the real sense and a serious threat of being kicked out of all domestic leagues and international call-ups, which will hurt players even though the fans say meh to that.

There's a knee-jerk reaction of all clubs' fans saying they'll walk away, but it will be hard to do and that's what the greedy owners will be counting on: 'the fans will come round in time.'

There are those who want more and more and more but I'm living in hope that a lot will speak out against this. Some already have.

they can try that but it won't really work will it?

the inevitable conclusion is that some of this lot need about 800 mil a piece out of their glory league to not be losing anything and most need about 500mil or less.

It seems to me that if pushed hard enough this lot could up the ante and redesign their effort to exclude all domestic competition. The very worst outcome possible if they have to pull in more clubs and even start thinking about pulling in global clubs as city can even offer up a new york based one.

Again this has been deliberately put out the day before Uefa were going to outline thier plans for 2024 and imo its clear the top clubs were wanting something very different.

The ESL is an absolutely appalling idea, dreamt up by greedy bastards who want to line their own pockets. Klopp has gone right up in my estimation, his comments are excellent, and I’m happy to see the vast majority of your fans feel the same. This is ****ting on the grass roots, working class fans from a great height.
My support for my club has never wavered in 50 years of attendance, I love Newcastle. If in the future we become involved in this farce, I’ll never go again.
    Absolutely disgusting.

like ander herrera who took 300k per week to go to PSG and is actually just another mouth for the PSG owners to attack their great middle east rivals.

I was watching sky sports and saw david seaman gving it large earlier but nobody asked the guy what were his thoughts in 1990 to 1992 as he was playing when the premier league came about. I would have liked to have heard about that from him.

The Yanks who are driving this don’t understand and definitely do not want any form of relegation, therefore any form of merit based alternative to the CL is not going to be their aim. They can ultimately do what they like if they’re collectively breve enough to literally start a completely independent football league, but actions have consequences and if your lot carry on with this, they’ll be ridden out of town imo.

For what it's worth, Spiegel are saying that PSG, Bayern and Dortmund are also named as founding members in the agreement for the creation of the league. The other 12 have signed, they haven't yet. PSG have 14 days to sign, the Germans 30, and may be able to override the fan majority to do so.

Indeed. This seems to have gone too far to be stopped now. I initially thought the result for now would be a revamped CL, but UEFA's gone through with the proposed changes and the looks like the ESL are going for their ultimate goal of guaranteed participation now. And it'll work imo. There'll be enough support from abroad and from people in the UK who can't give it up, and in 10-15 years time a new generation of supporters who don't know any different.

thats certainly true they really really do not understand the concept, the understand having subservient feeders to throw players down to etc.

Its also true that no fans at all want this and i would GUESS that includes italian and spanish fans as well.

there is a deal now to be struck, I would love to know what that deal end point is in their minds.

what we do know is the announcement for the Champions league 2024 formal was delayed from 31st march as "some clubs" wanted a greater commercial say. So I would assume that this was not forthcoming and the 12 think they can make a far better deal than uefa have done so far.

    https://www.skysports.com/football/...ew-36-team-format-from-2024-onwards-on-monday

if you read the link above then suddenly this break makes sense. When the g14 was persuaded to be disbanded in favour of a much larger ECA when the clubs got their last bribes from platini clearly they want more say and less for the smaller clubs

the CL proposition was little more fair frankly than the super league offered and less assuring for the big clubs. If for example we finished 7th this season we could be put into that 2024 CL competition due to out record and west ham could go do one.

The reality however was these clubs didn't like the idea and have decided to force uefa's hand.

The truth is once the rage dies down the reality will set in that the top clubs have spoken to UEFA of their displeasure with their format and he needs to be changed.

Uefa are sabre rattling. simple as.

inevitably moeny will talk and some system will be cobbled together out of the two offerings that suits nobody and everybody.
