Ayew was playing as the striker - both Whittaker and Cullen were on the bench. Routs is more a winger/playmaker.
Cullen just back from injury. Asking him to run for 80 minutes ? Whittaker not been used much. Routledge in good form, and very adaptable. No brainer at such an early stage of the game. Cullen eventually brought on, scored, saved blushes, yet you don't mention that. Positive for Cooper, so of little interest to you. I just don't get your determination to undermine Cooper. Fashionable thing to do ? I guess we will always be at variance on this subject. And you'll always be the loser, but then you can blame you know who.
Vetch - having played and coached, I am entitled to my opinion, which is something that I’m sure you would agree with. Cooper set the team up with Roberts upfront out wide on the right - basically playing out of his usual position. Putting on Routledge meant that 2 of his 3 front guys were playing out of position. Cullen is a young lad - he could possibly have lasted 80 mins, but personally I’d have introduced Whittaker at that stage: even Whittaker looked surprised that he was overlooked .... Cullen eventually brought on to save the blushes against the side bottom of the Championship - sad that blushes had to be saved. Hardly a positive and ringing endorsement for Cooper is it, despite you playing Devil’s Advocate ....? Fashionable? I’ve had doubts about Cooper’s in-game tactics from early doors of last season - before it was ‘fashionable’ to use your word. Cooper’s in game approach is similar to tournament football - which is where of course he made a name for himself - as such, it’s all about winning and not about performance. Hence, the erosion and variance from ‘The Swansea Way’. If you also check back, I’ve written several times that I hope that his in game decision making comes good - so how does that fit with your allegation that I’m not interested in anything positive re Cooper. By the way, I’m not arrogant enough to suggest that I will always be the winner and someone else always the loser on a particular subject ......
But I don’t know any of them personally - so I cannot vouch if they have been successful - similarly, that is why your sweeping statement / assumption is ludicrous
Same side, and formation, that played against Millwall and Sheff Wed, except Roberts for Naughton and Cullen for Ayew. Norwich loosing to Bournemouth could be a good thing because now it gives them the incentive to beat Watford to clinch the title.
Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper makes three changes for tonight's Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers. Jake Bidwell, Korey Smith and Wayne Routledge all start for the Swans as Ryan Manning and Conor Hourihane drop to the bench, while Andre Ayew misses out with a hamstring injury. Freddie Woodman continues in goal, with Bidwell joining Kyle Naughton, Marc Guehi and Ryan Bennett in the back four. Smith comes into midfield to line-up alongside Jay Fulton and captain Matt Grimes. Jamal Lowe and Connor Roberts will occupy the flanks, while Wayne Routledge up front for the hosts. Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Kyle Naughton, Ryan Bennett, Marc Guehi, Jake Bidwell; Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Matt Grimes (captain); Connor Roberts, Wayne Routledge, Jamal Lowe. Brentford! That one looks fairly even at present. 0-0 approaching half-time. Plenty of shots raining in at Norwich. Also 0-0 approaching half-time.
