My daughter and her husband had an early flight out of Luton airport once and despite me recommending otherwise, they booked a hotel in the centre of Luton. They checked in, dumped their stuff in the room and then came down to reception and asked them if they could recommend a local restaurant for dinner. They said they recommended their guests didn't leave the hotel after dark.
In the spirit of the OP, I've had cause to spend time in Worcester on occasions, and while it's not a place I'd go out of my way to get to, I've never failed to not have a good time on the occasions circumstance has left me there. Friendly people, sensible beer prices, what more do you need?
Ripon Been to the race course there quite a few times But went to the town centre awhile ago and it’s a lovely little market town
An evening jumps meeting to round the day off. That's what I had when I made a short visit some time ago. I quite liked it, Worcester Cathedral , River Severn, just the job. A pity work got in the way a little.
I lived there for a few months while my flat in Harrogate was getting ready. Both very nice places, Harrogate just felt a bit posh. Went to a wedding in Leominster (yes, they still remember Jarrod Bowen), beautiful part of the country, a ****er to get to. Slough sucks. So does Swindon. And the less said about North Shields the better. Had to pick up a car from there for my ex who lived in South Shields, it made me yearn for the sweet smell of Beverley Road.
Lancaster . Stayed a few times at the Holiday Inn just off the M6 and popped into Lancaster a few times . Not a bad place.
Same with Richmond. River Swale running by; really lovely. Flippin steep hills into the market square though!
Never been to Aberdeen or Dundee- two cities I'd like to visit. Further north you go on this island, the friendlier and less full of BS it tends to be. Went to Norwich and found it to be a twee, mobility scooter hot spot. No wonder there's no proper roads to the place.
We have just fitted a new roof to the old windmill ,the town centre is desperately run down but not as bad as Kettering were I have been today crikey now that is grim .
Carlisle is a bastard of a place any time I've nipped down to see City...Got chased out of the place the last time, thank **** I could shift a bit back then,Seb Coe wouldn't have stood a chance
Useded to go on training courses in Ripon, staying at the Ripon Spa Hotel. Some of the best meals I have ever had there.
