A good away win against a team that has a decent home record in recent weeks. Give them their due, they looked a threat when going forward in the 2nd half. With a keeper error, a badly hit penalty that was easy to save, and a defensive error for our 3rd, it really could have been so different on another day. While Norwich had the better of play for long spells, mainly in the first half - I am not sure we fully deserved the win. If I was a QPR fan, I would probably feel a bit frustrated tonight. On a positive note - no one had the sh1t kicked out of them today
It's a very successful strategy if all you want is to come 14th every year. Make 10 of the players well organised and cynical, and have one player who can turn a game. Palace are based on the same strategy.
I'm tempted to research how many points Watford have accrued with 1-0 penalties I'm guessing 21 to 24
Five points up still and a GD advantage of 3 goals over now promoted Watford looks good for the title. A home win over Reading would seal it.
2 points, +3 GD isn't really enough considering Watford have to win both games. Shouldn't be a consideration, but we've scored 8 more than Watford, so our goal difference is essentially one better than it is.
Watford have Swansea and Brentford to play, if they can take maximum points from those then fair play. Reading play Swansea tomorrow, anything but a win for Reading and their season is over.
Yet more proof that if we want to survive next season, we have to find a way to beat well-organised teams whose only interest is being solid and waiting for the opposition to make a mistake. When teams try to play football, we tend to win; when they play like Watford, we tend to lose. Can we become tougher without becoming ugly?
If I remember right, when we were officially relegated to the third tier for the first time in yonks, it was also against Reading. We lost at home and that confirmed that we were relegated. Does anyone know if I am remembering that correctly?
Posted this on our Match Thread......... Good luck next season, think you'll going to need it.... Thought we played well against the stand out team in the division......scoreline kind of flatters them to some extent.....you can't gift the type of goals the 1st & 3rd like we did and also miss a penalty........2 big chances for Austin at 1-2 that you'd think at least 1 would go in, mind Pukkie should have made it 0-3 when clean through, so swings and roundabouts....... Good game to watch, better than a lot of that tippy tappy crap that's played in the worlds greatest league, 2 sides going for it and both wanting to score more than the opposition..... They have to hope there's 3 worse sides next season.....
