Punchestown 16,50 Champagne Gold 18/1 e/w WH six places, 16/1 others seven and six places. 17,25 Nube Negra 11/2
Sorry Pilgrim JAZZAWAY 12/1 4;50 Punchestown Had a break since being runner up to Mrs Milner at Galway and I think its fair to say that Mrs Milner has somewhat franked that form in the interim. Up 6lbs for that run but very useful claimer negates half of that penalty. That run came off a break also so its fair to say that she goes well fresh. I have no idea why she hasnt been seen since but she cannot be the easiest to train surely. Mullins is mob handed in this so it will be interesting and informative to see how low she goes. I have also backed the yards horse HEY JOHNNY in the concluding bumper at 25/1, now 20's. I put it up on here for its debut but it was just an ok performance. Stunningly well bred for this game so hoping it will have come on heaps for that run.
The race is a lottery, twenty-five horses and most of them with chances, if not of victory, at least of reaching a place.
Well spotted, Stick. I took 16/1 with Hills last night. Given that he gave 9lbs to Mrs Milner( winner off 134 at Cheltenham ), being beaten by half a length at Galway, his net rating of 123 would put Mrs Milner in here with about 115- or a weight of about 9st 9lbs. You’d be killed in the rush. Of course, that Galway run was last year and who knows the respective merits/improvement of each horse now. It wouldn’t surprise me if he started favourite- or if Mullins won with another horse,
Away from Punchestown one I like this evening is Tarnhelm 8/1 in 6:10 Ayr. Price a bit short for ew so win only.
Brighton 3.00 De Little Engine CD winner who runs its best races at Brighton. Course form reads 012822316. I've chosen this horse last week for the saturday league competition and expect it to run well today. Alex Dunn has a good each way record with her horses running in handicaps at Brighton over the last 5 seasons (19 in the money from 37 runs). De Little Engine lurks on a very dangerous mark and Saffie Osborne who has ridden 3 winners in the last 14 days takes off valuable 7 lb.
Not a fancy price today, but my selection is in the staying handicap at Nottingham. 4:30 Hochfeld The price seems to have leveled out this morning, but he still rates as a bit of value if you want to take on an unbeaten favourite. I thought he should be around 9/4 for this, given that he is the pace angle, he has the proven high level handicap form and he looks to be fairly weighted once more. I thought his run last time out at Newbury was quite taking, and whilst he faded in the finish I thought he showed more than enough to suggest that he is still a horse capable of winning from marks in the 90s. He now drops into a small field handicap where I have to take on the unbeaten favourite whose wins have been impressive enough but he has a high handicap mark to deliver from, given he beat inferior horses, on handicap debut.
Actually one more. 4:25 Hi Ho Silver This horse has pretty solid form, and the yard are going along nicely this month. The horse has the course form, form on the ground and importantly this season it isn't being ridden by Pam!!
Good Morning All! Not a great start yesterday with 2/3 of my selections running unplaced It was a shame that Adace only came second (at 10/1), beaten by a 28/1, with the odds on jolly coming third. Nothing from me today, however I do have one for tomorrow which I will post up today incase I forget. Last time this ran out I was sent a nudge from a good friend to back it. Round The Island ran a good race last time out however was beaten at 3/1 (came second) Tomorrow it quickly reappears with the odds likely to be the same. Not the most sexiest of prices, however at least we can rest assured it will be trying and has a chance. GL Wednesday 28th April - Pontefract 3.50 - 6 Round The Island
Bombed out at work at the mo and have hardly kept in touch with the daily posts, but looking back seems that the forumites are firing in those win think n fast... Just gone through the card at Punchy just to take my mind of the constant buzzing of the phones in the office... 3:40 - You Say Nothing, 33/1 4:15 - Echoes in Rain, 8/11 4:50 - Exit Poll, 14/1 5:25 - Nube Negra, 9/2 5:55 - Merlin Giant, 6/1 6:30 - Monkfish, 11/10 7:00 - Saint Benedict, 5/2 7:35 - Hey Johnny, 14/1 Not had a bet but will check in on the racing as it goes on if I can... Good luck to all if you are having a play today...
Tough looking opening card at Punchy so I have just backed one today in the form of Nonbinding in 5.55 at 4/1. Trainer Sneezy Elliott has a good record in this race and this lad is a half brother to Ferny Hollow. Coddfather in the saddle is a plus as well
A couple of amazing races at Punchestown today. I am confident that Monkfish will beat Envoi Allen, but I have no idea who will win the Champion Chase
I do think Envoi Allen will put his Cheltenham blip behind him and win. I think he’ll handle the ground better than Monkfish.
That was a shade unlucky, Saffie got done by one blocking her in on the outside. One to continue to follow at Brighton.
Some good races at Punchestown but not great prices in them. I went against a warm Gosden runner at Nottingham. Mostly is 7/4 and a clear favourite for the Nottingham Oaks Stakes, a Listed class affair at 3.55 The favourite looks short enough for a filly rated 90 and although she could improve she has had wind surgery twice already and that seems a bit of a worry. I took a chance that A La Voile might be fit enough first time up. She was progressive enough in Handicaps last year and while only 6th in a Listed race on her final start it still represented a 4 lbs improvement on her previous rating. Rated 92, she needs more but Stoute is usually patient with this sort of horse and she seems a big enough price coming in 2 lbs ahead of the favourite on official ratings. Freyja is highest rated but her best form was on soft and Johnston had a pretty poor day on Saturday when he had several with decent chances it seemed 15.55 Nottingham A La Voile 7/1
